At my bank there's no such point as a pending deposit. When they catch it, they post it. They'd have to settlement with it twice to afford it a "pending" status.

But. the sales-rep said "buying permanent status is like renting instead of buying".. This have got to be one of the most dishonest comparisons ever muttered.
The fees within a Universal Life are very giant. If you buy a good occupancy policy (like a 30 year certain) and invest the rest you'll have significantly more money after 10,20,30 years or more.
And.... not one penny will be taxable when drawn or earn from the ROTH IRA.
Life insurance policies can deffer growth or income. They are, at some point taxable if you (not an heir) take money out.
I don't hold the time to expand on this. Do some real research. This is too significant to just catch suggestions from strangers (whose qualifications and motives can never be particular to you).
The only time that Whole Life, Universal Life etc may (I said "may") be worthwhile is if you've maxamed out on your ROTH and and other plan similar to a 401K. even then stocks are a better contract because after a year their growth is taxed at the wealth gains rate.... Insurance products are eventually tax at your earnings rate... not a fitting thing.
Roth IRA is a must.
Never buy into Universal Life

is to get out of debt, own your own home,

Oh, gosh - Universal energy is one of the worst possible investments you can make. There's no comparison. This is similar to asking whether it's better to eat lunch or hit yourself surrounded by the head near a brick. It's not a real put somebody through the mill.
