Any downside to tallying a beneficiary to reserves reason?
My sister has especially poor credit, bankruptcy, possibly outstanding court judgements, etc. Is at hand ANY risk to me at all within naming my sister as the beneficiary if I die? Any chance my nest egg account could be touched while I am still alive?Answers: tallying a beneficiary is a good entry, they can't access the funds until you die, but it increases your FDIC insurance as well while the side is open, so if the wall goes underneath (which is definitely possible these days) it incresaes your FDIC insurance $100,000 per beneficiary. Plus if you don't own beneficiaries listed when you die, your money go into probate and can be a real backache for your loved ones to access for your final expenses.
No, a beneficiary cannot touch your money. Once you pass away, she will in reality have to show proof, consequently she would get what be there.
