Answers: Since you're just 17 & starting next to $3k, I'd wait on the stock open market, and instead get your $ to grow in need fees (which you'll have to income if you buy any stocks).

That leaves CDs, money markets, bonds, and high-yield (interest) stash accounts. Even though some banks charge fees for these too, you can at lowest possible shop around and find some that don't.

I'd put it in a high-yield hoard account, a short time ago because it keeps the dosh totally liquid (meaning you can remove it at any time short any penalties). With CDs and bonds, and I think even some money bazaar accounts, you have to lurk a certain amount of time in the past pulling out your money, otherwise you get penalty which sap your interest. Banks like Amboy Direct hold a good one, where on earth there's no minimum balance, no monthly fees, and the interest rate is somewhere in the vicinity 5%.

But, if you're sure you won't need this money for articulate, 6 months, you can put it in a 6 month disc, and then renew it for another 6 months after that, etc. The shortest disc term available is 3 months, and the smaller amount time you commit, the lower your interest rate, so again a high-yield savings might be better. There are longer CDs too, close to 5 years+.

Just make sure you aren't paying fees, anything you do. $3k is a nice chunk of $, but it can be depleted quickly if fees apply. Same go with the nest egg acct. Many banks charge monthly fees, so manufacture sure you get a high-yield reserves acct. that has no fees, have a *reasonable* limit on the # of transactions you can receive in a month (most bank limit # of withdrawal per month), as well as a possible turaround time on withdrawals (they typically pilfer 3-4 days in a high-yield reserves, but some take a week).

Check the website Bank Deals, it's http://bankdeals.blogspot.com/ and list all of the deal on CDs, savings accounts, etc. going on. Banks run specials on products basically like other stores, so it's worth looking at. Read the report and reviews before jump in, to be sure they're physical. Also, make sure anything bank you progress with have a good long history of man around, and is *FDIC insured*.

Also, Suze Orman's books are perfect for beginners. She have a set of paperbacks that come in a box together, it's resembling a life apparatus of books or something. One book's on taxes, another on real estate, another on investing, etc. They're adjectives good, short, and undemanding. But any of her books have perfect ideas. Also read "The Automatic Millionaire" by David Bach.

Once you achieve a better idea of how the stock souk works, buy some stocks (stick with big brands at 1st), merely keep within mind that each time you buy or go you'll pay a excise, so get some you plan on keeping a while. And sometimes nearby are still account keep fees. Same goes for mutual funds. Part of your profit go towards paying the guy making the decisions in the region of that particular fund's investments.

As you age and enjoy more to invest, the #1 rule is diversify - don't put all $ within 1 kind of stock/product/instrument. Spread it so if the bazaar for one tanks, you still hold others working for you. But a high-yield savings will never permit you lose money, neither will a CD, so these are safest choices.

Good luck, and perfect for you for getting a head start on your funds / investments.
lend yr $ to me, and I will pay you 10% interest for 6 months.

I am 14. My people is prosperous. Should I obtain a commission?

Hi

I am 14 years old, and live surrounded by BC. My family is rich, but i dont gain allowances or anything. I turned 14 at the end of November. Should I procure a job? Will my friends be paid fun of me?

Answers: You should run away from home, get a fictitious ID stating you are 18, and join the armed forces.
as you would expect they'll make fun of you -- your friends will other make fun of you, no concern what you do or don't do -- that's what friends do.

seriously -- a job is a great view. as long as it doesn't interfere with your schooling.

even if you're successful, there is other value within understanding what go into work and how other people get the impression about their lives.

surrounded by my experience, people at work discuss about other parts of their lives and what's going on, why, how they feel, etc. and they do it honestly -- you can't acquire that kind of insight and comprehension of people out of books or surrounded by school -- they freshly aren't honest and real adequate.

you'll be dealing with other folks all your time in some dimensions or other ... learning impulsive sure beats study late.
Personally, I have an idea that you are too young to work. I would read out wait 2 years and concentrate on academy in the meantime.

It's worthy that you are thinking about it though, it seem like you are not a spoiled brat and it shows that you realize money is earned.

Oh and if your friends bring in fun of you, that's really their problem.
Well, 14 you still are in university, that should be your priority right now, there's a great deal of homework to do, but talk to your parents just about some allowance, not much but at least to turn to the movies on a weekend...you need to enjoy fun and rest.as long you are doing very correct in arts school, I don't think they will voice no. But if they do, then ask them something like getting a job, somewhere where on earth they hire students, you need to enjoy a permit slip from academy and your parents.because you are a minor.
A good start would be surrounded by a market putting groceries within the bags, that's a chunk time, also in a restaurant, helping the waitresses to verbs the tables, you'll capture part of their tips, you know? you are allowed to work some hours per week, but at lowest you'll have money for some fun.
Even if your domestic is wealthy, you call for to complete a career for your own adjectives.
And about your friends...no, why should they craft fun of you? on the contrary, it's suitable that you learn how to earn money contained by an honest and clean track.
Having a job doesn't in recent times give you money.

Having a duty shows others that you are willing to try foreign, and often difficult and unpleasant things. If you enjoy had a privileged upbringing, have a job will make available you credibility when you are an adult surrounded by the adult world. You will probably be working after in some dimensions (unless your parents are VERY RICH) and being competent to say "Yeah, I'm from money, but I have a job at 14 and I proved myself," might engineer you more mature, and will impress others, who might otherwise feel of you as a spoilt, privileged person. Not adage you are spoilt at all, but others might devise you are because of your circumstance.

Get a job. Even a lousy one is virtuous experience, and can introduce you to new ancestors. You might always hold enough money, but you can never enjoy enough friends! It will school you to manage your time, which is a incredibly important skill, and it will also furnish you a new appreciation for money that you might not otherwise hold had.

I come up with it's a great idea and I commend you on your enthusiasm. So what if your friends titter at you? If your friends aren't supportive, they aren't your friends. Get better ones who aren't so shallow.

Best wishes
I like the certainty that you have adequate character to mull over about getting a profession considering your age. With wealthy parents plentiful kids prefer a free ride. Consider a job around your home that can earn you an allowance. That could be a apposite way to start until you capture a little elder. Getting a part time undertaking would be a great experience and it would teach you the benefits of rock-hard work and reward. Becoming wealthy doesn't basically happen, someone contained by your family have to work hard to acquire the riches your family connections is enjoying. It is also sheltered to say someone will own to work at making sure future generation can benefit from those riches. As far as your friends - true friends respect you and like you for who you are not because you are rich or poor, hold a job or don't choose to work. Maybe getting a mission would be a learning experience contained by more ways than one.
