The actual banks themselves are not open because it is a Federal Holiday, Martin Luther King Day. That also means any branch of the government such as court houses, U.S. Postal Service, and anything under the jurisdiction are not open. As to whether the banks are open even in Wal-Marts and other big box stores, I rather doubt it. A Federal Holiday is exactly what it says. But you can pull your account up online if you are signed up for online banking. If you aren't signed up, your only other option is to call your bank's 800 number -- you can get automated service or a real live customer service person, if you have a problem that needs handling that cannot be done through the automated system.
