Does mortgage aid credit ratings?
I recently bought my first home - sharing the cost of mortgage beside a family applicant. However only his ss# is on record with the mortgage company although both our heading are on the monthly statement. My question is whether I should correct this beside the mortgage company and have them report it to my credit? By have a mortgage on my credit, will that actually aid boost my credit rating or lower it? My current credit rating is around 690.Thanks
Answers: If you were both on the loan application later the mortgage company should absolutely hold both of your ssn's and pulled credit on both of you.
Mortgages will help develop your credit as long as you pay it on the dot every month.
There is pretty much nothing better than a mortgage to assistance your credit rating. Unfortunately, I don't believe you can "correct" the paperwork once you have closed.
