Is this man trying to a scam?

Question:
I put an ad on Yahoo Classifieds. I'm trying to put on the market my laptop for $500. He said he'd pay me $950. He say he's from the United Kingdom and he wants to buy it for his son who is contained by school surrounded by Nigeria. His email address is a male's name, but not the entitle he gave me. He requirements me to ship the computer to Nigeria, I guess to his son. Please let me know if you deem I'm being scammed. He's paying through paypal, but I'm still bushed. I'm thinking once I ship it and give them the confirmation number, he won't own the funds to be deducted from his reason. And I'll end up next to no money and no laptop. What do you think?

Answers:
Probably a scam. I would simply describe him that, due to the circumstances, he must prepay before you will ship the laptop. If he does, fine. If he doesn't, get rid of to someone else.
If you want to be scammed, clap your hands. If you want to be scammed, clap your hand. If you want to be scammed and you really want to be scammed then be in motion ahead and clap your hands. If you really really really want to be scammed correspondence your laptop to Nigeria!
This is a total scam.

DO NOT SEND HIM EITHER THE COMPUTER OR MONEY.

This is a very adjectives scam under the class "Nigerian" scam.

What happen is that the scammer will somehow play on either people's goodwill or greed.

In your armour the scammer is paying you far more than what you asked for your laptop in hopes that your greed will overcome your upright sense.

This variant other sees an item or service offered for public sale over the internet, and the "buyer"/scammer will offer much more than the purpose is worth, or send check for far more than the protest is worth.

The potential victim after deposits the check that will turn out to be fake surrounded by the bank. As soon as the subject does this, the scammer asks for some portion of that overpayment back.

Since the check is forged, and it will take up to 2 or 3 weeks to find this out, the guard will put YOU on the hook for any money spent from it in the scrounging time.

In your case, you would be out the expense and the laptop.
The paypal account is VERY promising either made-up, or if valid either have no money in it, or be hacked from a valid user by a phishing attempt.

-------------------------
On the rotten chance that this is a valid proposition (HIGHLY UNLIKELY), you could ask for a cashier's check, and WAIT until it has fully cleared beforehand sending the laptop.
I would say you are lively to send it anywhere he requests. You might be running into somebody using a stolen credit card so they dont care that they are paying you 950 dollars.

I dont know if its a scam or not, paypal have to figure that out and the peoples credit card. Its sounds extremely fishy.

I wouldnt sent the laptop until paypal have already sent you the money, it could be legit but I doubt it. You might what to alert paypal before you purloin the money and if they send you the money and they know almost it.

Then go ahead and cart the 950. But dont send the laptop until you enjoy the money.
950.00 of what kind of money? pesos? be sure to check.
um - YES
it's a scam.
It's a scam, i bring those stupid e-mails all the time. merely delete it.
i have that experience i told him sent me CASH and i hear nought after that .
The man is using a stolen credit card number. PayPal has no means of access of knowing the card is stolen, since the owner still has possession of the card and have not reported it stolen, since he does not KNOW that someone stole the number off it.

What will come to pass, if you ship this laptop, is that you will get $950 for it (for a while) until the owner of the credit card discovers the fraud. Then PayPal will be coming rear at YOU for the money. Getting the picture now ?
YES
This is a scam. Run!! Run!! Run away from this one.and I would give the name and check on your PayPal account because it sounds close to it has be compromised. If you send this piece you will be out of luck. Don't do it! Go through Craig's List, deal solitary locally, and only beside cash. When I be selling an Ipod someone tried to do this to me as well.
Don't do it. If he really requests to give his son something, he can post it himself from the UK. And if he can afford to spend almost a thousand dollars, he's smart enough to realize he's paying too much.
Call Paypal directly and alert them to the scam - they want to shut this guy down if he's a scam, or assure you directly if the arrangement is legit.
sounds like a scam. check beside your contractual agreement with Yahoo Classifieds & PayPal. does your encyclopaedia specifically say for US shipments singular? what fees would you pay if any?
Everyone above is correct, this is a total scam. One rule of thumb to remember is this little treasure. If the deal have anything to do with Nigeria, it is most credible a bogus deal. Nigeria is the scam funds of the wolrld. I see so much of this where I work. I won't jump into detail about the scam, as somebody already have.
A DEFINITE SCAM!! One of the most popular styles of scam no, make that THE most popular scam type! DON'T ACCEPT his public sale!

What should I do?

Question:
My husband have student loans and credit card debt. Currently it's humane of getting out of control. We don't use our credit cards anymore, but are single able to pay envelope the minimum. What options do we enjoy to possibly roll them all together or simply to get a better rate on everything? We hold good credit and a moral payment history. Right in a minute we're just struggling. Thanks for any aid!

Answers:
First, try talking next to your creditors and simply asking for a reduced interest rate; many place bestow customer service agents authority to make small adjustment on the spot. If they refuse, politely ask them to close your tale (they will take you more seriously and trust me that they don't want you to close your account). After any rate adjustment that you are able to in safe hands, close all but your longest held credit card anyway and focus on the smallest bill until you are competent to generate some free cash, decrease your debt to income, and improve your credit rack up. Over time you should be able to focus your hard work on the bill that generates the greatest interest because paying larger amounts to this narrative will save you money by making you liable for smaller amount interest in the adjectives. Ex. If the minimum for a bill generated $11.00 surrounded by interest monthly, you would save more by paying more and reducing the generate interest to $10.00 or fewer a month.
receive a job and a second errand and then income more than the min. balance.
Refinance everything. Try to catch a lower interest rate.
Pay off the smallest onefirst, next the next and so on. Get a second available job temporarily until it's paid. I other worked for Servicemaster when I needed to do something like that.

.
Best entry to do is look at your over all budget.
Start writing down everything to the penny you spend money on. Then you will see exactly where on earth you can cut back.
Take lunches to work instead of buying.
Stop getting hurried foods or candy bars.
curb smoking if you do. The little things is what eat the money. Then take that money and use it to reward more on credit card bills.
If this does not work, then you can refinance, try to get hold of a lower interest rate on your cards also, even paying 3 to 5 dollars over the minimum is a step in a positive direction.
i discern ya! i did this..

1) list adjectives RECURRING bills--balance--minimum payment--interest rate.
2)list any other monthly amounts needed to get by.
3)add to attain total, divide by 2 or 4 (depending on pay period you recieve) Q: is this figure useable? if consolidation is an AID to debt freedom.
4)DEPOSIT that amount + whatever you can swing! (sometimes it's alot sometimes it's not. it's ALL O.K.) PER PAY PERIOD!
5)pay past its sell-by date whomever you owe the least. settle up them their payment plus doesn`t matter what extra you can SAFELY swing. once payee #1 is done, ADD the payment plus the extra to the subsequent fastest-to-pay payee. and keep rolling down the mount. things move incredibly fast once you gain the first credit card or two out of the way.

this worked really okay for my bride and i. when we met, we BOTH came out of horrible relationships, loaded to the hilt next to debt. we payed it all sour, got married, have a wonderful honeymoon, bought a house, had 2 kids, blah, blah, blah...

NOW..i'm a stay at home daddy, my bride works going on for 35 hours a week, we live in a typical middle class neighborhood, do typical middle class things, adjectives on a very minimal income.

we're not rich, but good is priceless!
(i actually consider us thoroughly wealthy!)
Since you enjoy good credit, you should ring up your credit card companies and ask them to lower your rate. This is especially effective if you enjoy an offer for a bright credit card with a low interest rate. You can read out, "I have a long history near your company, and I would love to remain your customer, but XYZ is offering us a 0% (or 5.9% or whatever), and we're considering transferring our balance to them unless you'd be of a mind to match the rate."

If the character you talk to initially can't (or won't) relief you, ask to speak to a supervisor. If the next party won't help ask to speak to his or her supervisor. Keep going up the tie up until you get someone who will assistance you.
Oh ok... I got this for you...

better check on it... Im pretty sure you'll discover something

2 Working Parents vs. 1 Working & 1 Stay at Home?

Question:
When does it make financial sense? Is at hand an online resource or worksheet that looks at the big financial picture, considering; income taxes, child care, cleaning service, meadow services, home based business income, handy man costs, summer time child exactness, etc? Is there a resource that will facilitate us distill down what makes the most sense for our line and financial ambitions?

Situation: Spouse got a big incline, now out earn me by more that 4x. Having a stay at home parent would eliminate most of the above mentioned expenses plus income taxes that come next to my small salary. We lately want to make a fiscally responsible choice.

Answers:
OK, so I you can afford to stay at home. Generally as far as US taxes dance, look at the tax brackets if one income keep you in a lower levy bracket it will save you tons contained by taxes. All ways, though, you will save on taxes, the more you generate the more you get phased out of exemptions & credits and such, so especially if you want that child credit, it would sort sense to stay at home.
I think it would relaxation stress, too, to have one spouse stay at home, man, adjectives the extra stuff just boggs you down next to having to verbs about work. As soon as we go and get to the point to live on one income, one of us will definitely be staying at home.
I do believe its better for the kids, I did not have a stay at home parent, but a instructor parent, so kinda the same article. It was wonderful.

Here's a calculator, if you would similar to to use it, to get a outstandingly raw number:
That is a markedly hard query to answer. i hope this helps you out.

http://homeparents.going on for.com/cs/stayatho...
You have you answer. With the big put on a pedestal you can stay home and care for the children (now a days is better to preserve and eye) and if it is OK with both of you. Don't verbs, my husband was a home dad and I work for 20 years and none of my kids get in trouble for drugs or any other problems. They are in a minute married and both graduated from college.
No, a spreadsheet wouldn't serve you because everything you listed except taxes will depend on your local bazaar. Some people spend $100 a week on childcare, some might discharge a lot more depending on where on earth they are. Same with pasture services, etc.
Don't just engineer the financially good choice, trademark the choice for your kids. Your kids will grow up with more self confidence and knowing their parents love them more than work.
My husband and I trade rotten when we can with the kids. They hold never been to a babysitter. We struggle at times, but surrounded by the long run...my kids will grow up with smaller amount problems.
you staying at home would probably be a good choice.. the child effort alone would REALLY help.. don't newly consider the fiscal part of it though.. also estimate about the better point of life!!

i am adjectives for one parent at home IF it can be afforded.. i would write up your monthly expenses, generously, don't scrimp!! and if you own at least $500 or more not here over that won't be used for anything (not even food) i'd say budge for it!!
Let's say that after doing the addition, you find that it'll cost you $10,000 to stay home instead of keeping your job - or pick some other unspecified amount. Even if it costs you to go your job, i.e., it doesn't spawn "financial sense" - would keeping your job be the right piece to do?

I very strongly believe that if you at adjectives can, leaving the undertaking to be with your kids would be the right item to do. Although my wife once had a totally rewarding job as a magazine editor, she very soon stays home with our 3-year matured and 1-year old. Our motivation be that if it was at adjectives possible, we would have a parent home beside the kids. Although finances are a little tight right immediately, I have really no regrets. We may think more or less my wife going to back to some full- or leisure employment in another 3-4 years, after the kids are within school full time.

I know you want to cause a responsible choice. But please keep surrounded by mind that this transcends just the financial chunk of the equation. Your children have not a soul else who will care going on for them as much as their parents - please decide to be within for them if it's at all possible, even if it costs you a short time.

Delete the message and move on.
Destroy it and never afford out any personal details or bank info
90% of eMail is SCAMS (Phishing and other con-tricks), Advanced Fee Frauds ('You won the lottery', 'You own inherited $$$$ from your Uncle contained by Nigeria', 'Can you cash my Business Cheque for 20% comission ?"), Pirate Software ("MS Office cheap") and copied medics ("Buy Viagra")...

.. and clicking on 'unsubscribe' in a junlk email REALLY scheme "I am stupid enough to click on links, so please SELL my email address to adjectives the other scam artists"

Why did Yahoo nouns stop tracking SBT on the NYSE? It have be surrounded by my portfolio for yrs but since 6-5-07?

Question:
I have tracked this stock day by day via finance/Yahoo "my portfolios" and since june 5, no activity have shown up. I can find it on cnbc and others engines. what happened?

Answers:
Aside from a computer glitch, the most possible cause would be that the symbol is no longer valid as within it changed to a different symbol or was bought out by another entity. (Try doing a symbol lookup underneath the actual company name.)

If that's not the defence, I'd go next to a computer glitch.
That's probably the day AT&T (the former SBC Communications) switched their NYSE ticker symbol from SBT to T (the symbol the outdated AT&T had).

Guess it wasn't the only item SBC bought from AT&T. The whole company moniker. The wireless company (Cingular). Now the ticker symbol.

What's the best financial magazine for someone who know nought just about investing and finances?

Question:
I'm in my ultimate year of grad school and living rotten financial aid. I barely enjoy a savings and am looking to start investing my money sagaciously. I need a dutiful financial magazine and/or book that can lead me surrounded by the right direction. Thanks!

Answers:
Try young money magazine. It is offered at tons colleges, so you may have instant access to it. It is also found online at http://www.youngmoney.com

They have a Fantasy Stock Market Game that you may want to sign up - that way you can practice near fake money past you begin to invest next to yours.

You mentioned that you barely hold a savings. Check out Bank Rate @ http://www.bankrate.com to achieve current rates. If your money is in one of the big bank (B of A, Suntrust, etc) you are not making the interest you could with an internet hill (like I.N.G or Emigrant Direct). They are FDIC insured just approaching the local banks.

Before investing, it is suggested that you hold an emergency fund built up (atleast 3-6 months of expenses). You can build up your savings while you revise about investing.

I agree near one of the other responders about the book, Rich Dad Poor Dad. It is by Robert Kiyosaki. It is an undemanding read, and can be found at most libraries (put that money in your stash account instead!).

Happy investing :)
Use the internet ..for the most info. If you chose the right profile administrator you won't need to read adjectives those magazines.
yeah, your better sour with a book.

"youthful broke and fabulous"-Suze Orman

"The girls guide to absolutely everything"
http://www.amazon.com/girls-guide-absolu...
( I HIGHLY recommend this book, I distribute it as a gift to every childlike woman I know who gradutes from college and is trying to strick it on thier own as an independent adult. BUT CHECK OUT THE FINANCE SECTION).
Its not a magazine but I would suggest that you start reading the Wall Street Journal. It comes out everyday and here are many accurate articles.

You can mostly likely read most of them sour their website.

www.wsj.com (it is a paid subsription)
I looked at some financial calculators to get hold of me started. www.dinkytown.net have all kind of calculators. I saw what compound interest can do when projected out 30-40 years and I also saw how much interest payments I could save by making accelerate payments on my mortgage toward principal. I am not over half rewarded in 5 years, I hold saved myself 10's of thousands of dollars basically by adding to my contribution every month. I couldn't tell you jack in the region of the stock market, but I chew over when you start playing around with those calculators you will see how much richness you can create for yourself just by not owing long residence debts.
Start with "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and here ain't no way I can spell his pet name, but it is commonly found in the nouns section of bookstores and libraries.

If you want to swot up about the stock flea market, I recommend Fishers: "Common Stocks, Uncommon Profits" and Benjamin Grahams: "Securities"
Try Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine. Stories are easy to grasp, there are alot of charts which will give the impression of being overwhelming at first, but enough explanation for even the most prime investor. For books, I got hooked on Dave Ramsey and his plan. I enjoy never saved so much or invested since starting his program. Check out his site at DaveRamsey.com
You can check out Money magazine. My dad who is into investing say that Jim Kramer offers massively solid advice. He have his own tv show that is pretty accessible to non-finance folks and have written books. You can find his books at amazon or at the local library.

How can I profit within the "Foreclosure" open market?

Question:

Answers:
Know your market fully. You can buy what you reason is a cheap foreclosure, fix it up if needed, and then find out it's worth smaller amount on the market than you hold invested.

Right now is a difficult time for making a profit buying foreclosures, since the bazaar is flat to falling somewhat. By the time you turn around and find a buyer, you might break even IF you're lucky.
You have to know the flea market and how much you might have to spend on any repairs. Buy low and provide high. Get some expert suggestion from Realtor, builder, lender, etc.
Buy a cheap foreclosure, fix it up and sell it for a profit.

Saving money and IRA put somebody through the mill. Does this be paid sense?

Question:
Cannot afford to risk losing any money but want to save what I can for my adjectives. Would rather own low return than a loss. I need to protect every dollar. I don't hold much. Thinking about putting money into CDs beneath "self-directed IRA". Does this idea spawn sense? I would like to revise more before visit a financial institution. Any idea of fees involved? Grateful for any direction.

Answers:
yes that makes superlative sense.

Find out if the firm will charge an account maintence excise... those fees can really eat away your cd return.

initiate the business section of your local weekly and compare cd rates... go to the dune with higherst NET return (%cd return -ira fee) and keep hold of the money there.

individuals will say you should nick more chances and trademark more... but it sounds like you know your tolerance better than most so forget about them... stick to cd's.. inside an ira the return will be tax free until you annul. also compare it to a roth and see which makes more sense for your income horizontal.

good luck
A traditional IRA is set up so the everyday man can place a particular sum on money into an IRA, then discount from taxes later. There is little risk depending on the mutual fund it's placed within.

An IRA is supposed to be for the long-run and almost every mutual fund ever created has produced some network gain - however, some have gain more than others in the long run.

With CDs, you compensate a fairly hefty due immediately since you are collecting on the interest.

Look a larger mutual fund firm (CS, Fidelity) and something beside a morningstar rating of 3 or higher contained by a 5-year index. That's pretty much a guaranteed return for the future.
