I rent and my rent is lb750 a month ( and No I dont hold a big house - I have a 3 bed terrace) You still own nearly lb600 a month for bills and food, surley that is plenty. We have smaller quantity than lb600 once the rent is taken and we are a family of 6.
You are clearly not managing your finances really well - a few sacrifice early within the term of your mortgage will tight that you are more secure subsequently on. Cut down on unnecessary spending - that usually means alcohol, entertaining activities, having a bet, smoking, etc.
