Personal Finance Question and Answers

I've received a cheque that doesn't state the amount contained by words..Can I still change it?

Question:
The cheque has my moniker as payee and states the amount in the digit box, however the amount isn't also writen as words under my dub.

Usually a cheque will say, PAY Joe Bloggs fifty pound and ten pence for example and next will have lb50.10

My cheque purely says PAY Joe Bloggs and consequently lb50.10

Can this still be cashed

Thanks

Answers:
I would definately NOT write in the amount on the splash because as a teller myself, I would find it suspicious that something is any written on the line within different handwriting or handwriting on a typed check. I would call the soul who wrote the check and ask them to reissue the check.
Well why don't you fill it within, the cheque is signed and you are not trying to make it out for any more than it say in the numeral box, anyway, who will know?
Hello Joe Bloggs.
It should be okay if you write in the correct amount, provided it isn't crossed through.
It merely seems to be an error by the sender. Writing that within wouldn't be fraud, but would make it adjectives to your bank.
As long as the payer signed the cheque that is to say.

Sue Bloggs.
Depends on the source. If you got it surrounded by a mail drop, later it's a scam.
Given that the Legal amount is the amount written in words I would doubt it. Call a local ridge and inquire.

Good luck
Just submit it in the commonplace way your edge will understand but if you are realy worried write the amount surrounded by how would they know it was you.

Are there any scam free ways to make money online?

Question:

Answers:
You know, I totally understand what you are talking about, I tried many online surveys but they either pay a little money or were a scam. Lets cut though the haze and all these"really great" deals out there.Common sense would dictate that the best deal would offer, NO start up costs, NO selling of any kind including cyber information, and NO service to provide ever as well as saying so right up front! Stay with me for a minute here. This is what is known as a paradigm shift. There is a business that pays people to do just what they are doing every day without a downside, such as added cost or obligation. That doesn't mean you get something for nothing, it only means someone else is getting a greater benefit and rewarding you to do what it is that you do every day. Now, if you're still with me I will 'Give' you a business, FR*EE! Complete with your own web site, all the training (very simple) , support material, and even administrate the business for you. This makes it a passive business with potential earnings of $2000-4000/mo every month and more. If I told you all ,you would not believe me. There is a site that explains in detail how you can be in your own business within 20 minutes. If you are serious about more than just 'extra income', if 20 minutes of your time is worth the difference of changing your life, go to www.meandmymall.com and watch the 'Business Video'. Remember: Imagination is the tool, Determination is the fuel! Good luck and God bless

look at my profile, and visit the site under "about me"...sign up there.here is some information about the site:

This is a site from which you are given the chance to earn money. What you have to do is complete surveys and offers for companies that want the public's opinion. By doing this, you are able to earn money very easily for simply giving your opinion or trying out sample products. This is a great service that allows one to work from home, on their spare time, at their leisure, and still bring in a nice sum of money every month. People have made up to $1000 easily on this site by just working on it in their spare time. It is not going to replace a real job's salary, but it is a very nice bonus. There are also many features on this web site, such as contests and special surveys, from which you can redeem extra prizes that would be sent to you with your monthly cheque, such as iPods, Xbox 360s, PSPs, digital cameras, gift certificates, and much more.

Cheques are sent monthly, and usually arrive about a week or a week and a half into the next month. No payment from you is ever required, not to sign up, not EVER. Unlike other sites that try to scam people out of their money, this site never requires you to pay them.

"If the site doesn't get paid from me, then why would they have this service going?" - The site doesn't get paid directly from you, but when you complete an offer or survey, they also get paid a small portion of what you earned yourself. For example, if you complete a survey about computers let's say, you would earn maybe $2 and the web site itself would recieve $0.50 from the company also for getting you to complete the survey. These surveys take little time at all, most taking up less than even 1 or 2 minutes of your time.

Fraud is also a big deal on the Internet these days, and this site recognizes that. That is why they ask for ONLY three bits of information: Your name, email address and your home address. Yup, that is all. No credit card information, no banking information, nothing like that. All they require is your name and address so that your cheque can be sent to your home every month. Your email address is only required to confirm that you have done the offers and surveys. Fortunately, no spam mail or junk mail is ever sent out by this site and your information is never shared with any other company.

Personally I have been a member of this website, along with thousands of other satisfied users, for approximately 1.5 years now and have earned well over $8600 by working in my spare time. This web site has been great to me, also the members and administrator are very friendly, and are always there to help you with a question or problem you may be having. So far, I've listed only positives about this site, because I can't think of a single negative thing about it. Earn money in your spare time, at no cost to you...Easy as that!
Try this, it's really good! promise!

http://www.awsurveys.com/homemain.cfm?re...

it gives you $6 for getting a free membership, they don't ask for any personal information, and surveys are usually about $4 each, and it takes like 5 minutes to complete. the only trick is that you can't cash out unless you have $75 minimum in your account, but they pay so good that's not really a big problem.

best of luck

Well there's an easy way to make money doing online surveys and completing free offers, Yeah ya heard me, free ( i ain't a spammer =\ ).
Most surveys and offers are free while others you pay for free trials or just pay the shipping, Ex. Get three dvds, but pay shipping 1.99$ and receive 10$ back, 1.99 - 10.00= you make bout 8$, or fill out a survey and receive 0.50$ - 2.00$ for each one without ever needing a credit card. That's it even the registration is 100% free.

Just click on this link, sign up and make sure to use a valid email address. Don't worry I'll help you get started if you choose to register (email me)
http://www.treasuretrooper.com/293799...
There are lots of things you can do: Build a website, sell items on eBay, Buy & sell domain names, etc.

Just pick something that interests you & learn everything you need to get started & do it.
I make all my extra spending money through Freebie Sites... one in particular that has a larger payout than most (though you have to complete more offers initially. Now all I have to do is find referrals. This is the most difficult part of these sites, since most people believe they are scams. And it's really hard to change their minds about these things.

So that's my method. Basically scam free, but convincing people is rather hard.
This site seems to work pretty well for me http://www.vipprofits.com/?affiliate=347...
I'm skeptical when it comes to paid surveys and 'get paid to complete offer' sites, but honestly many of them are legit and have enabled me to generate a great amount of extra money. Some even pay you to play games. On one site, you can find actual photos of checks people have gotten from the site. On my favorite site that I use, the total payment cashout to its members reached six figures ($100,000) for the month of May! The most important thing is to never get discouraged if you start out slow. Those $1-$5 surveys will add up over time, and doing them from more than one site at a time really increases your income. My first week using three of these survey sites, combined, I made over $60 dollars and never touched a credit card (including the offer completion sites), so they really do pay. Just go to my profile and you will find links to my favorites!

PS: The survey panel that’s hard to get onto is Pinecone Research because you have to find a flashing banner and click it to get to the sign up form, but if you can manage that, you get $5 per survey. Anyway try some of those links in my profile. They are free and easy to get started.
Try Treasure Trooper!
-Free to join
-You don't have to pay for anything
-There are survey offers from $.50 to $20
- I have made about $300 so far
- There is a treasure hunt going on now for $100
-The site has forum boards so you can see how other people are doing and how much they are making
- You will receive a check once a month
-Just give it a try you have nothing to lose

Is it a accurate impression to payment past its sell-by date my vehicle loan next to my 401k fund? I am really contained by debt.?

Question:
I have 16,000 on my 401k and owe 16,000 on my sports car loan. Is it meant to be?

Answers:
No! That is almost the worst financial move you could ever make.

Sell the sports car. You can't afford it.

Plus 1) you probably wouldn't be allowed to do this until you quit your job and 2) you wouldn't snake up with the $16,000 that you want to pay bad your car anyway. After taxes and penalty, you might get $10,000 if you are lucky.
NO

the 401k can solitary be borrowed for a down payment on a home or for a harsh conditions without paying penalty

paying off a coup¨¦ is NOt a hardship
preserve the $ into the 401K or roll it into a Roth IRA
depends on your rates on your car loan and the rate of your 401k. If your coup¨¦ loan has a highly developed rate then yes earnings it now, but for... you might have to look for an other route to pay. 401k's are thier to safe and sound you future. But your vehicle, unless you maintain it LOTS, will not be here after 5-8 years.
You should look into other forms of repayment starting by frugile living and costing out unnecassary expenses. You will be surprised how much extra you'll be able to pay cheque your car loan respectively month.
NO,,,, You'll be hit with taxes similar to you wouldn't belive..

Go to your bank or credit association and apply for a loan to consolidate everything
No... There are few investment decisions you can net that would be worse than using using your 401K to pay your sports car off.

There is no "level" that this make sense. You'll hate yourself 20 years from in a minute (I did something similar... and I feel close to the younger "me" stole from the older "me").

The cost within taxes and 10% penalty is also totally high. Find another answer. Manage your money better. Don't ever suggest of this as a possibility again!
No. I wouldn't touch that 401(k) unless it was an emergency. I aim if you need life-saving surgery, or your house burns down and you're homeless, or you receive laid off and can't find a position and you're out of food...then use the 401(k) money. Otherwise, it's much smarter only just to leave it nearby. In the long run it will help you more than simply buying you a motor. Just pretend like the 401(k) money doesn't exist; Put it out of your boss. When you're a 60 year old woman and that 401(k) have become a small fortune, you'll thank me!
that would be the dumbest idea ever the unbroken idea of a 401k is to be capable of retire when your around 60-65 keep your saloon loan and if you must take money out of your 401k solely do it for a house loan
No.

What if you already cashed the check and in a minute you own to compensate more later the check be worth?

Question:

Answers:
Welcome to bank fees. Pay up or lose the justification.
If you cashed the check ~ and it was an NSF the writer of the check have to pay for the extra processing. Not you. Why are you paying more?
I don't get hold of it ! You received a check but now you own to pay next to a check. What's the transaction??
What is the question????...
If you cashed a check and it be returned back for NSF fees, afterwards yes the fees start building up in your reason. However, I would suggest to go spinal column with the being or institution that issued the check in the first place. Show them proof of the check, and your commentary information. If they are not willing to pinch care of any fees, I would transport them to small claim court.
That's called bank fees. If you wrote a check to one of those companies that do cash credit, the extra money you are paying is interest.

Both are legal and factor of any agreement that you entered into when you cashed the check.

If someone wrote you a discouraging check, then you can bring a civil suit against them for the amount of the check, the amount of the NSF allowance, and all legally recognized fees.

If they refuse to earnings, you can also report them to the police for writing NSF checks, which is illegal. Depending on the amount of the check it can any be a midemeanor or a felony.

I own lb30,000 surrounded by nest egg and lb800 debt. Is this okay or am I going to own problems?

Question:

Answers:
Seems like you are thoroughly well positioned. I would not verbs about it if I be you.
why dont you just clear the 800 off??
clear the 800 then u wont enjoy no problems
It depends on the interest rates. Generally, you should use your savings to settle off the debt, and hang on to debt at zero because the interest rate ond ebt is largely higher than it is on reserves. If that is so, later to maintain a debt is a continual drain on your hoard.

Now, there may be reason for maintaining the debt, resembling it may be for a property that may appreciate, and you are using the debt as an "option" on the property (keeps you from risking more capital on posibilities). If it doesn't turn out, afterwards you can usualy "sell" the option and not lose much money.

BUT, you necessitate to evaluate this properly.

Generally (again) you do not want any drain on your capital groundwork, unless it has investment potential. f it is simply paying off a motor, then reimburse it off because in that is no potential for capital gain, unless it is a '57 Aston Martin!

Ron.
why don't you just salary half of the 800 that your surrounded by debt for so that you'll have smaller amount to worry more or less.

How much is the average of month costs for a creature surrounded by England (outside of London)?

Question:
My husband is portuguese and i'm brazilian. We are considering to go subsequent year to England in directive to search for a commission in his work nouns ( he works with IT). But we intend to live within the countryside. We would like to know (just to hold an idea) how much are the basic expenses (monthly) that a couple spend. Thank you.

Answers:
It adjectives depends on what lifestyle you have. Most family living in the UK earn something inwardly the range of lb1000 to lb2000 a month, so I imagine that is ample for a single person to live on. For a couple it would visibly be more though.
$20
About lb800/month rent.

Around lb400-lb600/month on food / bills / socialising.
Hmm...admire your plan of going outside London - but I suspect you'll be pulled by the magnet inwardly the M25 in time!
I live within sunny Yorkshire and rent and food come to around lb800 a month for us.
I think the average couple inevitability at least lb1500 per month for prime living- if you want to live in the countryside- it is extremely expensive because we treat countryside as retreat- a luxury for those with lots of money. He would obligation a very angelic well compensated job. We own had a exceptionally stable economy here contained by England but these past few months we enjoy seen larger increases contained by mortgage rates, (thus putting rent up), lliving costs such as fuel, heating, dampen and food- it seems that this will be the trend for sometime to come even so.
depends on what your doing
there are some nice towns that are okay away from London

I am reception $2,000 at the terminate of this month within one lump sum and it's change. I've be pondering whether I

Question:
should loan some of it to family member who can't pay it hindmost or invest it but I just can't come up beside any ideas of how to do that short getting ripped off. Are in that any agencies out there that operate with beginners or some place I can ask warning for this?

Answers:
You are very sensitive but be wise. If you are impracticable to having this type of lump sum - INVEST most of it.

I other tithe 10% off the top to a local church when I catch unexpected sums of money. Then the other 90% is spent much more sagaciously.

Find a high interest position savings description if you don't already have one.

Diversify.

Split it into $500 section and allocate it to 4 different typs of REAL investments. (CD's - Roth IRA - Stocks etc)

I prefer double digit returns so perhaps you'd similar to to visit http://www.Prosper.com

This is a place where on earth people loan money to other relatives who can't get guard approved loans. You can still help others - do your own due diligence - and capture a return on your investment.

FYI - Just don't drop the entire $2K in one place.

Wise Investor
http://www.goodshephard.free1up.com...
one and only if they are in want of it greatly.
Pay off any debt first.
Put the money contained by CD until you digit out what to do with it.
Start investing within something lower risk like mutual funds first.
I would hold to ask why you would loan money to someone knowing ahead of time that they won't pay it rear legs?
Go to a bank and unseal a savings story. You will need to hang up on to some of the money so you can pay taxes on it at the appendage of the year.
The family request for information is a difficult one to answer because that isn't exactly finance-related. If you loan you money to a family extremity and know they can't pay it rear, that isn't a sound financial decree, but you're doing it out of the goodness of your heart, so it might be a flawless decision for you instinctively and make you consistency good and noble.

If you decide to invest it, where on earth you put it will depend on your risk appetite, time horizons, plans for the money and your other investments or debt.

If you are in debt and it is lofty interest consumer debt like credit cards or sports car loans (not mortgage or other related), paying off your debt is most feasible a good item.

If you don't already have an emergency change fund, you might want to put some of it in money marketplace funds, CDs or high surrender bank money accounts (check bankrate.com). Then you can put the rest in a diversified, no-load index mutual fund. For this, I would check fidelity or vanguard for the brass tacks on investing:

www.fidelity.com
www.vanguard.com

Good luck with your verdict!
If you don't have a hoard account, put it surrounded by a savings rationalization. Call around for the best interest rate. Make sure its more than 3 percent.

If you do already have funds, consider a CD or a mutual fund. I close to the T Rowe Price family of no-load mutual funds.
Get a compact disc. I did that with a money i get from school and presently its safe within! i can breath again! seriously! check at your local bank..and dont lend it to domestic members i did that once and they never remunerated me, but if you want to you can give it to them as a grant so you wont get angry when they never rate you back! dutiful luck:)
Short term: put it contained by a CD (certificate of deposit) at your wall for a month, earning interest while you wish where to invest it.

Loaning to relatives is a impossible option. Their debt is not yours. Conversely, their reserves is not yours. Their property or purchases are not yours.

You can lump the $2K into an IRA (the yearly boundary is $3K). You will need to consult a registered representative. Free at the wall if you open the IRA in attendance, or you can open it online next to any of many investment firms. (see links for Washington Mutual's online CDs & Wachovia's securities division)

Many financial advisors charge fees. If they do not charge fees for suggestion, then they will procure a commission from your investment. (How else can they get salaried for their efforts?)
If you loan it to friends or home members, you could turn through an online site like circlelending.com. This channel, there would be an legitimate loan and you would set up specific payment arrangements so they would enjoy to pay you subsidise or get their credit dog-eared.

You could also possibly use the site below. If you refer them to that site, you could get a referral bonus as ably. In addition, you can take a sign-up bonus of $25 so there would be benefits.
I applaud your sentiment and need you luck as you begin investing.

Definitely do NOT thow money away to anyone who have no intention/history of repaying you. That just reinforces their doomed to failure financial habits and make you feel desperate.

There are plenty of good places to park $2,000 next to reasonable returns. Here's some design along with the try involved:

1. Savings account (minimal effort): Go to your local wall branch with the check and converse to a manager. She can set up an vindication for you to hold the money which will at least provide a small rate of interest (2%/yr or so). This have a high level of safety but massively low return.

2. Set up a mutual fund for yourself (medium effort): Pick up a copy of Kiplinger's or Money magazine. Every other page will be an advertisement for some form of mutual fund company trying to take you to buy their fund. Check out a few web sites, next ask for an application. There are a couple of gotchas with this approach: Many funds are looking for a minimum of $3,000-$5,000 initial investment so you will not qualify (Many of these dampen their requirements if you open an IRA and commit to a monthly currency contribution). There are a couple of mutual fund companies that cater to small investors; check out Franklin Templeton. There will be a mind boggling variety of option so keep to simple types close to index funds (ones that invest in a stock index) or money flea market (ones that look like a soaring interst savings account).

3. Get a broker (high effort): You could do #2 by starting an justification with a brokerage firm; I don't proponent this to you since these guys really are looking for people next to bigger balances than $2,000. However, since you eventually want to become one of these, you might want to explore this since a long occupancy relationship with a broker will draw from you access to advice and investment types out of stock to Joe on the street.

4. Do some microinvesting: A number of avenues are developing for people to loan money to respectively other over the internet. Offshore, this is known as micro investing and mostly involves groups of investors loaning small amounts to folks in developing countries who use the money to start businesses. In the US, I know of one site www.prosper.com that does sort of equal thing. Borrowers run on the sight and request loans; folks similar to you who establish accounts bid on those proposals. The winning bids pool their money to fund the loan. Most borrowers are asking for serve with credit card bills or rate day loans or business expansions. The site checks respectively out and rates their credit worthiness. With $2,000 you could make up to 25 loans (min $50 each) and return 10%-20% per year. Of course, some of those borrowers will non-attendance and stiff you, so it's not all gravy.

5. Pay rotten any debts you have. If you are paying credit card match at 20% or a student loan, pay that first and after worry around socking away the cash.

Good Luck!
Before you settle on what to do, read The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey before the closing stages of the month.

If you want to give the money to a family connections member- treat it as a gift so you don't expect to procure paid put a bet on.

If you want to invest it, you need to opt first, do you have debt? Do you own an emergency fund? $1000 must be set aside prior to getting out of debt and then money off debt. Then you can accumulate up to 3-6 months of savings (for emergencies) and later invest for retirement and/or school.

Read the above book first, amount out where you are at and consequently decide what to do. He have been the "agency" that I enjoy read on how to win with money.

What is your experance next to ING Direct Checking and Savings story?

Question:
I have be thinking about moving my ridge accounts over to ING Direct. What are your experances? what should someone thinking of making the switch be aware of? any and all oblige is appreciated.

Answers:
DON'T listen to Chet Nedlaw. He worked for Enron and is currently running a scam involving old ladies and senior discount cards. Big money if you've get no heart and hate children.
I own ING orange money. been fine so far. no fees. I close to that part. something that US bank could learn from.
I enjoy ING Direct savings and also use their Electric Orange Checking. I love it. I enjoy also recomended them to my friends and family and most hold since joined. I did abundantly of reading on them and also HSBC Online and decided I looked-for to be able to use the Orange Checking. The interest rate is righteous and their customer service is excellent. You do have to hang on to a "real" checking account unstop to transfer money i.e. not direct deposited into the accounts though. That is the one and only default to me. Being competent to deposit checks via an atm would be wonderful but as of right now you can not. Good luck.
I also use ING electric red checking.
I love it. Have had no problems.
I did deeply of research on these accounts and went beside ING; I'm very glowing with them. There are several banks offering similar accounts, including some from US bank (in spite of the first answer). Other banks include Emigrant Direct, HSBC, Washington Mutual (WAMU), Virtual dune, E-trade (yep, the online brokerage).

Nothing really to be wary of near ING... it works great. It takes 2 to 3 days to move funds from your ING article to the one it is "linked" to (usually your standard checking account).

Other banks, including the US base Emigrant Direct have 5.05% interest conpared to 4.5 near ING, but 1/2% is a price I'm willing to take-home pay for a realible bank that be the first to get into this fragment of the business. Think about it: 1/2% equates to $5/year/$1000. So once you bring to $10,000 you are talking around $50 a year, but if you have 10K, you really should be looking at Mutual funds or some other investment vehicle anyway.

I similar to ING because:
1) Interface (website) is very user friendly.
2) Its a voluminous, stable bank, and
3) It have a cool bouncing-orange-ball-logo. Emigrant Direct has a silly looking american flag hood Logo that makes me want to run right out, buy a rifle rack for my SUV and obtain a bald eagle tatooed to my beer belly. It does not, however, inspire me to be shrewd near my finances. But I digress. More importantly, reviews of Emigrant's site and service are mixed at best.

Here is a good article on these kind of accounts:

Anyone know of a honourable company for Federal Grants?

Question:
I have squandered my money on finding a company to help me take a Federal Grant. Does anyone know how I can get into a company that really works and can be trusted. Anyone out in that get a Federal Grant?

Answers:
Most companies that claim to assistance you get rule grants are scam. Go to the source, look the grants up on grant.gov, and apply for them yourself.

If you are talking roughly speaking student loan grants, swarm out a fafsa form at fafsa.com, or pick up a paper copy at your public library or financial aide department.
Realistically, the chances of getting a forfeit from the feds are slim and none. Grants are given for really specific purposes. There are no grants to relieve you pay your mortage or other bills or anything resembling that.

Any company that says that they can find you are admit is generally lately going to rip you off.
Grants.gov is your source to FIND and APPLY for federal management grants. There are over 1,000 compromise programs offered by all federal compromise making agencies.
NO company 'really works'. The ONLY place anyone gets a Federal allow is from the Federal agency issuing the grant. The best ANY company can do is provide warning about completing the application. If they promise ANYTHING more, you are mortal scammed.
