Question:My neice went to the local check cashing store and they said it be a check from Nigeria but it looks so real resembling an original document. Does anyone know of fiddle sweepstake checks floating around?Answers:
If you cash the check, the edge will make you help the back. If you commend the back, you are responsible for the check --no concern what. Ask your bank to transport it for collection. They will send the check to the hill it is drawn on and that bank will distribute a cashier's check or other payment decree to your bank to contribute to you if the check is authentic. If it's fraudulent, you will be notified.

Banks are sending out checks all the time, usually blank checks, but every very soon and then I go and get a check filled out for similar to $500 and it read, You could use $500, right. Go ahead, and cash it. In fine print, it say, the interest rate if check gets cashed, will be close to 30%.
Unless you were expecting a check from this dune, I wouldn't cash it.
It must be a scam. What they are hoping you do is that you deposit the check into your account. Once they can tie your explanation to other personal information, ie: address, signature, etc., they will attempt to withdraw everything surrounded by your account, and, probably steal your identity to pilfer you for your credit, too.

http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports this is becoming a very adjectives scam. Remember, even if your bank initially accept the check, this is no guarantee of authenticity and you will be held liable if the check is later shown to be phony.
See this advisory from the Better Business Bureau:
http://www.stlouis.bbb.org/news111604.html
From that page, this is how the classification 'works"
November 16, 2004
The Consumer Fraud Task Force, a joint mission force of federal and state law enforcement agencies and the Better Business Bureau (BBB), urges consumers to use guardedness if they receive unsolicited checks in the messages.
Such checks may include foreign lottery winnings or fees, checks in excess of auction bids for Internet items, or requests from a foreign business or individual for relief in depositing a check or re-mailing a check surrounded by the United States.
Members of the Task Force said they have noted an increase within consumer complaints regarding the delivery of fraudulent checks in recent months.
In one scenario, consumers are informed that they hold won a foreign lottery and are provided a legitimate looking check to support pay fees involved surrounded by collecting their larger winnings.
The consumer deposits the check in his or her ridge account and after withdraws some or adjectives of the money to cover these fees and send the money via commercial line transfer to the lottery hand.
A few days later, the wall discovers that the check is phony and informs the consumer that the monies previously extracted and wired to Canada or overseas must be repaid.
Remember, even if your bank initially accept the check, this is no guarantee of authenticity and you will be held liable if the check is later shown to be phony. Unfortunately for the consumer, the wired money will be soundly in the hand of the fraudster.
Another variation involves a consumer attempting to provide a high dollar item online, such as a vehicle or motorcycle. In this instance the purported purchaser sends a check in excess of the asking price.
The peddler deposits the check and refunds the purchaser the excess amount. Again, the imaginative check sent is found to be a fraud and the seller is out the money refund to the purchaser.
Nobody is immune from these offers. In September 2004 Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon himself received a phony check for $5,000 payable to him.
Recently, a complainant to the BBB reported depositing $10,000 contained by money orders into her statement, which the bank allowed her to change. The bank later determined the money orders to be fraudulent and is holding the consumer liable.
Postal inspectors be contacted by three consumers who questioned the authenticity of checks totaling over $87,000 received to wages fees on foreign lottery winnings. In two instances, contact with the issuing bank determined the checks were counterfeit.
The third consumer received an $80,000 "certified" check drawn on a U.S. guard. She was instructed to lolly the check and mail $60,000 within fees to the lottery operators (in Canada) previously receiving her lottery winnings of $400,000.
Because of schedule by the bank, the $80,000 check spoilt to clear and a substantial loss to the consumer was prevented.
Whether you are offered reward for something you are selling or winning a lottery or any other number of variation, remember: if you are asked to cash a check and next send money spinal column, chances are it is a scam.
The Task Force previously have focused on work-at-home scams, home remodeling, sweepstakes offer, "phishing" (online identity theft), online auctions and collection agency tactics.
Participating within the Consumer Fraud Task Force are: Missouri Attorney General's Office; Illinois Attorney General's Office; Federal Trade Commission; U.S. Postal Inspection Service; U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Missouri; U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Illinois; and the BBB serving Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois. If they say,it's from negeria and your sister put contained by for a sweepstake to win,i'm not sure if i would cash it...Yes within are fake sweepstake and they will dispatch out a letter proverb, you have won $500,000.00 but you must hurry, dispatch in $19.99 for the serious newspaper work and handle tax...Theres a few out there and nation fall for it and never receive anything...I would purloin the check where you hill at and they can find out if the check is real...Tell your sister not to enter any more sweepstakes...
Clowmy Take the check to the guard, any bank, but preferrably Bank of America-they will put in the picture you.

Question:I want 2 have more money so I can reward my bills and stay above water as they say aloud.Answers:
I have found that anyhone can variety money. The trick is to keep as much of it as you can surrounded by the process.
When I was basically 18 years old, a much elder man, probably 40+ (yikes), took me aside one sunny Southern California afernoon, and gave me some suggestion. Had I taken it, I would now be financially indiependent.
I be earning $1.25 per hour flipping burgers. Taking this into statement, his advice be so simple, although I must have dismissed it as not honourable advice. He advise me to take what I be spending on Cigarettes every day, which at that time be 50 cents a pack, and each month, have put aside about $15, to invest that surrounded by a good mutual fund-he only happened to be a broker who handle such funds. As my income would increase, so would the amount to be put aside. I took that to mean, that since I be taking home about 80 cents an hour, that every hours of daylight, I only needed to put aside roughly speaking 60% of one of those hours. If I would do this, he promised me that I could expect to have a fortune by the time I be 50 years old, and could retire surrounded by luxury.
This means that at today's rate of wage, say, $16 per hour nick home pay, a individual putting aside 60% of each hour's bear home pay would lone need to put aside $9.60 a time, so that at the end of the month, he could invest $288 every month.
Now, some might be thinking that $288 would craft a car stipend. Hey, wake up! That saloon will get ripened and go by the instrument side-so, why not start with an elder, but dependable car, that have no car payments, so that you would be free to get a " fortune" payment, or phone if whatever you close to. Actually, I like the conception of a "lavish dream come true" payment.
His calculation were base upon the history of the stock market, which he maintain would, over all, double surrounded by value every 5 to 8 years. Even through the Great Depression, that begin with the Stock Market crash of 1929, those who held their stock, over adjectives, saw their investment double in 7 to 8 years.
So, have I done what he advised, I would immediately have amassed over a million dollars, and would most imagined be looking over plans for my new villa contained by La Pax, Mexico, doing what I enjoy most-but that's another story.
The knob seems to be doggedness, more than having a sizeable amount of money to invest. You simply do not need closely of money at all. Just time.
Remember, time will walk by whether or not you invest that small amount every month, month in and month out. The difference is that reliably committing yourself to invest that small amount every month, at the end of that time, anything it is, you will reap huge rewards that the one who failed to invest can individual dream about.

Anyone read Matthew Lesko's books? I own a ques..?
Question:If anyone here has read Matthew Lesko's books, can you put in the picture me how I can get free money to money my utilities? I do work, and I just applied for a 2nd employment, but it would really help if I can achieve some kind of money soon. And please, no crap almost prostituting myself or anything gross like that, I'm asking a serious give somebody the third degree about ML's books. Anyone?(It's a pity that one have to ask for a decent, verbs answer here in Y! Answers.)
Answers:
I regard ddc's comments are outstanding, and should prove to be some immediate nouns to "tide you over". I worked for a hotline about 7 years ago and would thumb through Matthew Lesko's books (sorry, long gone) but I don't remember anything concrete, and lots times the people would name back and utter whatever ML suggested didn't work, it be a dead interconnect, etc..
I just go on mlesko.com, but you can't buy just one book - it's a bundle and I think too expensive. Then I go on Amazon.com; there's a used copy of the How to Pay Your Bills (or whatever the title), and its cost is $20 plus s/h.
First please follow-through next to ddc's suggestions; you may also go to the information desk at the local library. Many times the insinuation librarian will sort through titles and suggestions for you. God bless you - it will work out for you, and most of us have be there or know someone who have. Chin up. I have read Matthew Lesko's books but I don't construe that is your answer for on the spot help. I conjecture you should start with your local Department of Human Services, every state may change, but in Texas for example, they own an emergency fund called TANF that will allow you a one time emergency reimbursement of 1,000. Your local churches will have a community resources sheet that list all the resources available within your area. These sheets include agencies that comfort with utilities, rent, local food pantries. Some receiver books list community resources surrounded by the first pages of the book. I don't reason you will find a resource to pay adjectives your bills every month but you can find a resource that will pay adjectives your utilities every six months, or at least partially of them. As far as ML Books, I found them very overrated as you can find equal informational resources on the Internet for free. Try searching for "human resources by state". Check next to your local churches too, you do not have to be a appendage for them to either back you or point you in the right direction. MOST places - FIA, DSS, Salvation Army, ETC DO NOT CONSIDER TELEPHONE a necessity!
To them a TELEPHONE is a luxury.
Sorry to be the bearer of fruitless news.
Try contacting a local church. MOST enjoy money set aside for emergencies, shut rotten notices etc.

You should. It give you a heads up on when it be written if you forget to write it in your book.
depends
-yes if your slow
-no if your smart.
Source(s):
knowing you, you're probably going to pick yes
Uh, yeah. There are five parts that brand a check negotiable. Payee, Date, Signature, Written amount, and Numerical amount.
Yes unsurprisingly how would they know when it was written. It could of be 2 years ago as far as they would know.
I think that you should, because if you date it you know when the money will come out. Send it today, but the other entity can't cash it until the date on the check. It's best for post-dated checks when you want them.
To be a valid contract, as a proper check would be, requires a starting and ending date. The starting date is the date you put on the check. The finish date is six months later except within special circumstances that most people needn't be concerned roughly.
You should put the date on so that it gets cashed or deposited. The date tell the bank if they should loaf to move the money (post-dated) in demand to ensure there is money within the account. The cheque become void 6 months from the date. If someone forgets to brass your cheque you run the risk of them cashing it at the worst time .... when there isn't plenty money in the report to cover the cheque. NSF (not such fun) ... I mean Non-sufficient funds usually cost you an extra out of pocket expense. The moral of the story is..............
UNLESS you are rich, put a date on the cheque so you don't obtain into financial trouble. (However, I don't think it's mandatory. I've never received or given a cheque lacking a date)
You should ,especially in the event that you don't want it to be put through up to that time you want it to be debited from your information otherwise it'll be returned "postdated" with applicable charges for the returned item.
no, but if you do, most personal checks expire after six months
If you don't, it will clear anyway. Small businesses any use the night drop box to deposit bundled checks, or they come into the guard and make a deposit of a bundle of checks and one deposit slip. The bank clerk does not check each slip of daily, s/he just accept the deposit and gives a reception.
As for post dated checks, you are strictly relying on the payee's honesty, because if they take it to the dune, it will be accepted anyway. Trust me. Besides, if they turn to an ATM, the machine doesn't read any deposited check.
There used to be an expiration date of 6 months, but I believe in a minute there is none anymore.

This is usually how the scam works: After the check is deposited, the bank will put in the picture you the check has "cleared." He will consequently ask you to send a check to him for the amount. Then the imaginative check will bounce, and you will be out the money. See this link for an example.
Checks that hold "cleared" can still bounce.
