Can I start an IRA for a child?

My nephew will have not a soul but his father who is disabled. The boy 7 and a special needs child. What can I go him for some kind of shelter that he will be able to build on as he grows?

Answers:
Start a 529 College Savings Plan for him....he can access the College Savings plan plentifully sooner than he can access the IRA - he has to be 59 1/2 to access the IRA, you can set it up to allow him to access a 529 report at age 18.

Other Answers:
Yes. I know for a fact you can overt a ROTH IRA for a child.

Go to Erade through the following link... they enjoy youth IRAs.

Hope this helps... email me beside more questions if you own them.

look for the 'retirement' area even though the child is not within retirement...

Actually... here is the Direct Link:
https://us.etrade.com/e/t/home/iraminor" title="https://us.etrade.com/e/t/home/iraminor">https://us.etrade.com/e/t/home/iraminor...

Actually, the below answer is wrong... With a ROTH IRA, the principle amount (not the earnings) may be taken out at any time without cost or taxation!

The answer two lines below is wrong. You may make contributions to the child's IRA. The child does not neccessarilyhave to kind contributions, especially at younger ages... As long as a child has earn income you can start an IRA. The earlier you start the more you may own at retirement. 529s are a good thought for college, as well as an IRA for retirement.

how do i let go money easier?

Answers:
put a little aside every sunshine. i just took $5 out of my wallet everyday, back i left for work. if you do that for a week later you have $35. for a month that's $150. if you do it for a year after you have $1825. it may not nouns like much, but it worked exceedingly well for me.

Other Answers:
easier than what? don't spend it, for starters. 401K, nest egg account, bonds...etc.
Make yourself a budget for respectively week (or month). Plan what you're going to spend the money you earn on. Put the rest of the money in the sandbank.
Keep some amount each daylight ... something U could afford
I know one guy who kept a big water cooler bottle within his house and threw in adjectives his change everyday. It added up to profusely of money each year, which he used towards a kinfolk vacation.

I use my credit card for everything so it does not work for me.
Whatever your budget or plan is, salary yourself first. Practice is most important, moderation second. Select a manageable amount (either a % or $$) and put it within your savings respectively month - better yet, you could also use a service similar to Sharebuilder.com to create a drip fund... For example, you could buy $50 of Microsoft each month - (or anything security you would be interested in) Automate your stash process as much as possible - give yourself some time and it will reimburse off.

It doesn't issue how much you make as long as you practice the process.
unseal up like 5 edge accounts and dont get debit or atm cards for them. get deposits of small amts here and there so you dont miss the money. works resourcefully!
live beneath your means...aim only buy what you can afford and dont spend excessivley on things that are superfluous. Dont make fad purchases!

Which is best CD's or mutual funds?

Answers:
depends on how much of your money you want to have access to over a set interval of time. mutual funds are good if you want to own fast access to your money. CDs are best if you want to put money away over a long spell of time, usually 3 or 4 months +. The problem with cds is, they require (according to the FDIC), a $1,000 deposit to be insured and gain interest. Cd's gain interest slightly faster than mutual funds. If I be you, I would buy bonds. Bonds under $251 are not tax by the govmt. Buy $500 worth of series EE bonds at 10 years. Your patience will be greatly rewarded. Hope this help.

Other Answers:
It depends on your objective disc are very locked but the rate of return is lower about 4% at this time for a 90 light of day CD. Mutual fund historical hold higher rates of return because they are sector of the stock market around 8 to 10% per year. Please see my articles on my blog, links below.

What is the best instrument to start rotten contained by the stock marketplace.?

I have almost $10,000 and I want to invest part of it.

Answers:
Go to the Vanguard Mutual Funds. Easily found on the network site. Tell them you want to invest in their index 500 mutual fund. The minimum should be $3,000. Keep the other $7,000 surrounded by a checking account and dollar cost average over the subsequent 12 months. So you would be adding in the order of $580 or so every month until the whole $10,000 is invested. Ed

Other Answers:
Check out Sharebuilder.com. This site allows you to buy and dollar cost average into individual stocks which can potentially provide a greater return than a picnic basket of 500 stocks. Before you do this, consider your age, you expectations, and your objectives and then establish if equity investments are appropriate or not. Assuming that the right thing for you right presently is the equity market, sharebuilder is great. For mutual funds, try any of the low cost shops (i.e., Vanguard or Dodge & Cox), or ETFs. Finally, read "One up on wall street" by Peter Lynch which is a dated book, but great nonetheless.
