Personal Finance Question and Answers

Budgetting on an irregular income...?

Question:
I need tips for keeping on to of my familial finances. The only bills we enjoy is our rent our utilities, phone, cell phone, auto insurance, and groceries and gas. So its not like we are within alotta debt but i am still having trouble keeping resting on them. Im always proverb "ok which bills can i pay this time" and if something impulsive comes up Ha! we're dead!
We capture paid every 2 weeks but the amounts are irregular so i entail some advice.

Answer:
Live inside your means. Most those cannot grasp this.

Meaning, take your low-end yield amount, and act as if you have to live off of that respectively month. Don't think/act as if you regularly made the higher amounts.

Also, dwindle expenses. Believe it or not folks survived for many years lacking cell phones ;) And if that isn't an option, afterwards drop the house phone line, as you really don't requirement both.
Wow! That's hard to do when you are single, and I'm guessing have a family doubles, no, triples the difficulty.

Okay, so here is how I see it. i don't know what you scrounging by the amounts are irregular, but I assume you mean it have to do with how frequent hours you work, or maybe you work on commission. First, sit down and add the total amount you owe each month to bills. Then, numeral out how many hours a week you call for to work, or products you need to deal in, to reach that number (after taxes). Make this your dream and aim for it (every month).
Next, split your bills up between what is due at the beginning of the month, and what is due at the middle/end of the month. Pay those starting point of the month bills with the ultimate check you received from the month before. Pay those middle/end of the month bills next to the first check you received that month. That way you will other know how much money you have going into bill time.
Finally, never skip paying a bill. If you enjoy to shortchange one company to put a little on another, do that. It help to keep the interest rate and/or nouns charges down. Plus, they will be less potential to send your justification to collections, which affects your credit and is always more than you originally owed.
Some money in your favour tips would be turning off the home phone picture since you have cell phones already, adopt a higher deductible for you auto insurance for a lower reward schedule, by rotten brand groceries, and watch your utility usage.
Just remember that none of this make you cheap. It make you frugal.
When I worked recreational hourly, I would budget based on two numbers:

1. The minimum amount of hours I would acquire at work, and thus the minimum amount of money I'd have.

2. The minimum amount of money I needed. Rent and bills with the sole purpose.

Hopefully #2 is less than #1, and whatever's gone over is food and gas money.

The easiest thing to do to serve your budget is to spend less on food. For a pious year or so I bought milk from Smart and Final and the rest of my grocery shopping at the 99 cent store. I took frozen dinners to work and microwaved them for lunch. (The 99 cent store is also great for cleaning supplies, and even pet food.)

Another good one is clothes. My mom found a Salvation Army store that does 50% stale the entire store once a month. I went next to her one time, and I was amazed how much contemporary clothes you can find if you get in attendance early and hold the patience to find the sizes you involve.

Every payday, take what's not here over and put it into savings. If you necessitate it for an emergency reason or because you have less money than your budget call for, it can always be transfered vertebrae. Otherwise, it won't look like you hold money, so you won't be tempted to spend it.

The association below will show you some stats and figures to find you thinking!
why don't you focus on making $10,000 instead and being debt free? That is an attainable goal, a million is pie contained by the sky.

I'm a retiree (66 years old), what should I do near the $22k surrounded by my Roth IRA?

Question:
I have monthly income from SS/pension/etc sufficient for adjectives my bills and have $500 spending money vanished over each month. What should I do next to the $22k in my Roth IRA? Play it locked and put it all into Bonds/CDs? Or rather riskier and a certain percentage contained by SP500 Index Fund? Or even more, put a big percentage into a single good safe and sound stock like Apple? Detailed suggestings meet, thanks!

Answer:
Putting a apt part of it into a broad-based index fund is probably your best bet. You're still relatively young at heart and may live more than another 20 years, so you're probably going to want to get more return than bonds/CDs are going to bring back you.
I would definitely recommend against putting everything into one stock - no matter how apt the company is now, things can switch and you'd be taking on way too much risk by have absolutely no diversification.

Fortunately, it looks approaching this doesn't represent the largest part of your reliance for retirement funds, so you don't hold to over-worry the matter too much. Just be sure that the index fund/funds into which you put the money have a low management charge - a higher headship fee isn't going to increase your return any. Good luck.
contact your agent that will move about over with you adjectives of your options. What is dutiful for me might not be good for you.
At 66, I would guess that you really can't afford the risk. I'd roll it over into bonds and CDs. Definitely no stocks. You might want to log on to the Vanguard website. They are really excellent. Or turn to the library and look at Kiplingers Report.
I don't know anything about nouns, but do you have long occupancy care insurance? Or are you planning on putting that into a fund to be used for long permanent status care should you entail it? Long term guardianship is extremely expensive, so you'll want to be sure you have adjectives the money you'll need. :)
Hard to say-so.

I mean, you'd own to find an investment that's doing well ample to offset the certainty that you'd need to start paying taxes on the interest (since you aren't paying taxes on it very soon because it's a Roth IRA.)

I think you'd be strong pressed to any kind of investments earn enough to balance the potential tax implication. But then, I'm no professional investor, any. Still, I wouldn't take those implication lightly -- be sure you do the math.
How in the order of this:
$5000 in a bond fund
$5000 contained by an index fund Vanguard funds are a good start
$5000 contained by a mid cap fund
and $5000 contained by individual stocks. 3-4 stocks max.
Don't do the 1 stock game but look for stocks resembling Polaris that have a appropriate dividend. I will help you near one
ready??????
Check out National Beverage Ticker "FIZ"
Great company, steady growth dividend coming:)
I can't stress plenty to research companies. Don't buy a stock because you feel it's a worthy company,
Have fun and don't get greedy. Keep your emotion out of it.
At 60 I am considering using mine as a down payment on a rental property(s) after I start drawing SS and enjoy more than sufficient income. With 20% down it should be cash flow positive and decrease taxes on other income (pension money) because of depreciation.

Any increase in property values is multiplied by leverage (5X1). For example give somebody a lift a $50,000 apartment/condo - a 1% increase is only $500, but it is 5% on your down clearing (2% works out to 10%, etc).

It has it adjectives - tax sheltered increases, disappear current tax bill, current bread flow, leveraged gains.

Has anyone tried the Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover program and would you recommend it?

Question:

Answer:
I don't think the poster "Christopher" have read The Total Money Makeover. The book on Ramsey's website costs about $16 and when he have a sale it costs $10. FPU costs around $130 (how much did you spend at Walmart/Target etc the last time you go??) and his live event costs about $39. All incredibly reasonable. FPU is a duration time membership- so you can keep going wager on for free after you pay the first time.

Dave's program works. We are on it and doing great. We finally aren't have fights in the region of money, we are going in indistinguishable directions, we have goal for our money and we haven't made any more money than when we started. We now own a plan for our money. Before after we paid bills, what ever be left within the check book we would spend, now we allocate that money to a category. We haven't have an "emergency" in a year. We don't miss the credit cards.

We own read the book and we have be through FPU (Financial Peace University) and been to a live event. All money in good health worth the peace we are going through. We highly recommend his program. You can start beside the book and determine if you need more after that!

(I hold read Suze Orman and Howard Dayton and like Dave's no trash easy plan the best.)
I've listen to his radio show and honestly think he have a good program. He simply preaches the things I was doing anyway (get rid of your credit cards, discharge off your desperate debt, save) and they really work. His show has a spiritual aspect to it but is not at adjectives preachy or ideological, which is always a huge turn bad for me.
My husband has read his book and listen to his show. We are doing this program and it is working great. We do not have to verbs if something breaks and are planning for our future. I would noticeably try it if I were you.
My wife and I are on his plan presently. It makes alot of sense. Common sense. We will be debt free contained by about 3 yrs including the home.
Same info, different collection. Garrett Sutton, Carolyn White, and others all volunteer the same info...form more money, live on less, remuneration off debt, liberate...etc. The problem is they don't tell you how to rescue or how to make more.

There is a site that have an actual plan, that shows you how to save minus giving up your morning coffee, how to earn extra money without any superfluous expenses or time away from the family and a debt strategy that give you small wins to preserve you on track. Best of all, this site offer the info for free.

I'm afraid to post it here for fear of violate the rules. Email me if you are interested. I believe the Money Makeover costs money which is a step in the differing direction.
His plan about paying stale all debt and living beneath your income make good sense. I don't agree beside a lot of the other stuff he say like carrying around currency rather than paying near credit cards and just paying them surrounded by full each month.

You can efficiently do his plan just by doing the book and listen to his radio show for free. No need to buy anything.

Good luck!
YES! After reading the Total Money Makeover and getting on a budget we finally have a feeling like we own control of our money. By following Dave's baby steps, we've get $1000 starter emergency fund, and have rewarded off more or less 10% of our debt in 3 months. We've never be able brand that kind of progress until we starting doing it his track.

Having the budget and starter emergency fund has also be a huge comfort. When things come up that you have to remuneration for, it's just a review of your budget and figure out where to find the money. If it's not out of the budget, you know you hold that emergency fund.

It's worth the couple of bucks to buy and read the book. It's a life-changing experience.

I hold so much trouble good my money, any warning?

Question:

Answer:
You did not say how out-of-date you are and how much you make.

With out person specific I will say this.

1. Open a checking description and a savings rationalization in a local hill

2. Make a budget and calculate how much you can reclaim. Say $25.00 per week

3. When you get your wages check, the first thing to do will be to deposit $25.00 (weekly) contained by your savings explanation.

4. Some banks would automatically verbs that amount from your checking to your savings if you sign up for it.

5. Whenever you enjoy extra money, tax return, bonus, etc., put it contained by the savings sketch.

6. Never withdraw money from the hoard account

Good Luck !
Make a authentic budget for yourself and then stick to it, even when it mechanism you can't buy the latest iPhone gadget.

Another agency is to set aside some money from every paycheck and tell yourself that it's past its sell-by date limits. You could even break open a separate savings side for it.
I have like peas in a pod problem, the more I make the more I spend.Especially spending money on my kids. My daughter treats me awful at times, but when she ask for something I surface like I own to get it. I suppose it was because I saw how much my mom and dad sacrifice for me, I think that I own to do the same article for my kids. Trust me my kids want for nothing. I judge that I'm not the only one, several of my friends say impossible to tell apart thing.
single buy necessities such as food. and dont go shopping for other stuff.
i am like way. i am 19 lived on my own for a year and cant keep hold of two pennies to rub together.
what i do is hide money contained by places i won't think to look. dont covering it all within one spot either because you will remember where on earth it is. or hide it surrounded by a spot that is intricate to get to
also try getting a mound account from a wall that is not contained by your area so it is firm to get the money out, this might not work if you dont ever shift their but you may be able to return with direct deposit.
hope some of this is helpful

What is the best means of access to fundraise money for a academy club?

Question:
Right now, we are not competent to sell anything to be precise not "nutritious"(ie candy) at school to fundraise money. We draw from around it by selling slightle less nutritious cast-offs but its still doesn't manage to bring within the same amount of money that we used to. We're trying to lift up money for college scholarships for our member and we're looking for new philosophy to fundraise.

We can't really do a car dry-clean since our club is extremely small(about 15 really). We're setting up events at local restaurants by promoting the place and in return gettina percentage of the profits made on the morning advertised. However, if anyone have any other ideas that would be honourable, they'd be greatly appreciated.

I've noticed also thus far that not a soul ever likes buying from catalogues at our institution. And right now we're considering raffling rotten something like and iPod or something. Anyone tried anything that worked in good health at your school? Something different? Brought surrounded by money?

Thanks in finance.

Answer:
So, being within california, you can't sell anything not "nutritious". I have the same problem too within my school.

Well... someone around the club have an idea of a candy black marketplace. So we sold the candy secretly minus the knowledge of the supervision. We made ALOT of money. I never knew that inhabitants were really into candy.
I would recommend trying to enjoy a yard Dutch auction, outside of school. If you own any books, toys or games that you haven't played with surrounded by a while, take it out. If 15 those each bring contained by 10 things, you already have 150 things to trade!
YOUR BEST ANSWER...

if you auction or raffle off anything resembling an ipod, the problem is you gotta first get the ipod and you gotta gross profit off the ipod. characterization you gotta get the money it took to buy it plus a lil extra... try a STUDENT AUCTION if every1 contained by your club is open minded, and down to do doesn`t matter what it takes to lift up money. ITS WHERE YOU AUCTION OFF THE STUDENTS IN THE CLUB/ ORGANIZATION TO THE OTHER STUDENTS ON CAMPUS...

as an example, when i did it, i sold for $30. and so the next daylight the ones who bought me, put me in a dress and made me bathe their car... but it be $30 bucks we needed... not to mention it was pretty funny
Something our university choir does that's really successful is they sell what's call "gold cards". Basically, these gold ingots cards get you special deal (2 for one, or buy one, get one partly off type thing) or a discount at local restaurants and things. This year, they be really popular because they had an amazing business at a tuxedo place, and they sell them a few weeks up to that time prom, so a lot a guys bought them.
Anyway, it help the local businesses get customers, and the choir find a lot of money... I reckon it's $20 per card. There's no catalogs or anything either, respectively student is given several gold cards (however masses they plan on selling), and they sell them for brass or a check. Then, when the time is up, they are responsible for returning either the money or the cards. Does that put together sense? It takes rather work to coordinate with the businesses, but it brings within a lot of money for us. Feel free to e-mail me if you hold any questions.
try going around to popular places and conversation to people surrounded by charge to see if they are willing to donate certificate or anything of the sort and then enjoy an auction. send emails to companies too.
I thank you should do a tango at your school and charge for tickets to return with in. past doing so make a big announcement on what your plan is and do a survey on a type of them you want it to be on. Make shore it’s on something affordable and what you know, you and your group can knob. Take it to a hole other level; trade name shore you make big flyers, agree to all teacher know, and other families know going on for the dance. Than attain the iPod and raffling tickets and sell it at the shindig. This will get plentifully of money for your group. It mite take some time but it’s worth it and it will gain you the type of money your looking for.
I know people who hhave done it beside this for their schools. Just don't adjectives join from duplicate computers.

I am a huge believer in showing proof of grant. Thats why I have pics of checks I enjoy been salaried, a 1099 Tax form, etc. on my site for all to see.

I enjoy found several legitimate work at home sites so far, and I made $500+ contained by October, over $700 in November, $900+ contained by December, and $700+ in January. They are free to merge.

Please click my screen first name or avatar for more information and a link for proof of stipend.

And by the way--never join a work at home program that desires you to pay up front. If they be making that much money, they wouldn't need to charge you.
