Hi all,
Looking for some guidance please.
I live in a tenement type flat, on the top floor which is the 2nd floor. It is the local authority that owns the building as such but I rent it from a private innkeeper who owns this flat. There are 6 flats in total and I contemplate only the botton two are council rented. I moved surrounded by last August and hold just received a missive from my landlord this week asking for sum for factors fee's? I be under the general idea that my landlord would be responsible for these fee's as the invoice details building insurance, factoring admin fee and stair lighting. She have removed the building insurance but has gone me with the other costs. Well it is address to my landlord and she pays it but she have sent a seperate letter to me detailing i must pay envelope her! Surely that is not right? Also my Sky Tv runs of the communal dish on the roof of the building and the mast has fell down due to the discouraging weather, she is saying it is up to me to pay envelope to get that fixed?
Answers: I too live contained by a privately rented flat and as far as I know it is up to your landlord to remuneration the maintenance fees or they should be included into the cost of your rent not separate.
It sounds to me as if your innkeeper didn't realise how much these fees would be so is trying her luck in getting you to wages them for her!
Check and double check your lease contract as it should say contained by there whether or not you are liable, if you don't hold one and it wasn't mentioned at the time you began renting she can't expect you to cover these costs as they be not agreed at the time.
Phone citizens advice to be confident but I think your manager is in the wrong.
As for the Sky, that to is her responsibility and the continuation of which should be covered in the building keep fees or insurance..
I'm thinking you don't have a written agreement. If that's the travel case, then yes. She can charge you those things. You can discharge or you can move. If you do have a written agreement, shift back and read what it say about optional fees. if factors fees are not stated as to be compensated by you on your tenency agreement then you are not liable and as for the Sky dish, anything outside the property is not your responsability, such as roofing, guttering, Aerials, etc
Hope this help
Good Luck
