other sources depend on where on earth [which state] the house is in. In some states, that's public information right away, within others it isn't.
btw, in copious areas, foreclosed houses aren't selling to other folk -- the banks are taking them surrounded by for what's owed. then they try to provide them through the usual methods.
The forced MI on your FHA is an insurance policy for the lender against default. The short market price is based on the lower of the appraisal plus or purchase price. Anything over 80% LTV (loan to value) is owed to the lender. If your loan was a 97% LTV (typical FHA) after what is owed to the lender is any amount over the 80% theshold, any interest, penalties and probably attorney fees.
