Gas bill outrageously big - do I own any recourse as a tenant?

My roommate and I have lived within our apartment for just over a year. Our first gas bill - backbone in 2007 - be for $750. We know gas isn't cheap these days, but that seem a bit excessive for two people living is a small apartment.

It took almost adjectives of 2007 to get the concern checked on by the utility company, all the while our proprietor was relating us that "it's probably right." Well lo and behold, the gas company inspects our meter and boiler and informs us that the boiler connected to our meter is old, and be once used to heat the in one piece building - essentially, we are heating our apartment, the tenant's below us, and the restaurant we live above.

We confronted our proprietor, and he admitted that the tenant before us have moved out because of the high gas bill. He compensated us by knock $500 off one month's rent.

Well very soon we have received our first gas bill for 2008, and it's $750 - but the hotelier is refusing to compensate again! Do I hold any legal form of recourse?

Yes, you have recourse. You can move out. Other than that, you enjoy no basis for any sort of feat against the landlord.

lol ya right, Its a tiny city contained by Nebraska its not like Omaha or Lincoln. I own been to that part of a set of the country every time i go through it on my road to Texas believe me Nebraska cities under 50,000 nation they are the salt of the land or better yet agreed as the bible belt!
I think you will find most of rural areas within the plain states fit this description. I will warn you this, the integration of undocumented aliens are emergence to make an impact within that part of the country.
