Mexico's live cost and primary school point?
I am thinking to move to mexico city, how easy is to find institution for the children (are they good or get to pay private). How much do you expect to take-home pay for a house or apartment ( 4 beds) and what are the levels of personal wellbeing in in attendance...I apreciate very much your comfort...
Answers: You'll want private schools, emphatically. Rates are all over the place, depending on the standard and character of the arts school. I'm told by friends with kids contained by D.F. that the highest price doesn't necessarily expect the best education - but a perfect education will stingy at least a few hundred dollars a month surrounded by tuition.
As for housing expenses, again, all over the place. It depends on where on earth you want to live. If you're looking to Condesa or Polanco, two areas popular with foreigners, expect to salary at least $1,000. Other areas close by may be a bit less. Don't rely on ad in craigslist-mexico because those are a bit high.
I used to live contained by Condesa (1997-2000) and rented a HUGE three bedroom apartment for $900.
There's a pretty good sized American expat community surrounded by DF, mainly concentrated surrounded by Condesa, Polanco, in the neighborhoods in close proximity the U.S. Embassy on Reforma, Coyoacan, and in the south. If you're considering it, I'd suggest trying to breed contact with some of these folks (unless you already hold friends there) and start house-hunting by word of mouth. Consider placing an ad contained by The News (an English-language paper).
As for security, you do enjoy to be on your toes. Don't hail taxi on the street. Be extra cautious more or less where you are. Don't wear flashy jewelry or receive yourself an obvious foreigner.
