Depends upon where on earth you live. My parents are in Indiana. They didn't own their house until they salaried off the mortgage. I deal in real estate within Texas. I own my house and the lender has a lien against it. I can smoothly add anybody to the work to my house, but as stated by some above me, that would not be advisable.
