Why are Bay Area Apartments so expensive?
I've lived in San Jose my together life and am trying to move out on my own but a one bedroom apartment costs similar to 1400-1600 dollars a month. My wages have not gone up that much surrounded by the past year so how am I expected to reimburse such a high rent? I get the home purchasing situation and that makes the constraint for apartments go up, but why? Just so apartment owners can clear that extra money? I don't make that much more money only because the homes aren't selling so how am I expected to pay that much more money for a place to live? I am supposed to shift homeless because people aren't buying homes? (who can afford them and afford the sophisticated rents) WHAT ABOUT US PEEONS THAT DON'T MAKE ENOUGH BUT MAKE TOO MUCH TO BE CONSIDERED FOR LOW INCOME/HOUSING?Answers: Try the west side, it is not that high.

Supply and demand. The supply is tight for rentals due to the # of foreclosures and the drying up credit souk. I know there are citizens who want to buy but banks will no longer tender them money to buy because of there credit. Up until 12/06 they be giving money away to anyone. Its going to get more expensive to rent the longer you loaf in the close to term. Yes the apartment owners can and will charge more because of this. if you owned an apartment complex you would charge more if you could believe me. A similar entry happened surrounded by the bay nouns around 2001 and it will happen again you can sandbank on it.
You have a few option. Live at home longer, save up more money, and work your butt stale to get a better profession. Take a second job. The instrument this housing market is going these values are going to come down so if you stay at home longer and collect you maybe competent to buy a home in a year or 2. : )
You want to move out capture some friends together and rent a bigger place rather consequently a 1 bedroom. The more people you bring the lesser it will cost you intuitively to rent.
I have a 2 bedroom near my buddy and our rent is 1200 a month and I pay a touch more then him since I enjoy the master bedroom.
Also check in some of the other surrounding cities. For example illustrious end Los Gatos have stiff rent controls compared to san jose so you may find that you can get something within a better area for smaller quantity.
