Post it on E-Bay, Craig's List or your local daily...
Have a yard public sale (or "tag sale"...anything you may call it where on earth you're from)...
Try your local Craig's List and Freecycle internet sites, you can post for free and the people will come pick the items up.

Take that money and do something good near it, what a lucky fella you are.
Document the time and date of each attempt to contact investigational owner. Don't plan on the new owner to do any of the mandatory repairs. Don't spend the rent money, just because you haven't be able to capture the money to him doesn't mean it is not owed. By elude you your landlord can't constraint late fees, but is still due the rent you agreed to clear on your original lease.
Do you know of your exotic landlords address? Usually it is not his responsibility to come pick up the rent, but your responsibility to get it to him. If you are to move you will predictable need to provide a 30 hours of daylight written notice and waiting around for him to collect it is not going to fly, especially if he subsequently sues you for unpaid rent.
