thats true about private renting but one and only with estate agencies your best bet is to look contained by your local paper at private landlords as they don't do credit checks and singular ask for referencies. And for selling your home if the mortage company take your home it wouid bring to a close up in auction and you will lose thousands pounds. If you can't get rid of on the market for the price that you want your best bet is to discuss selling your home near this company anyway i hope this as helped near your question

Answers: Less than 10% probably, not sure the exact percentage but I know it's really low. A few years ago it was about 3 in 10, owned their home free and clear..
My wife asked me this question so I decided to look into it. Based on US census data the percentage of units owned free and clear was 38% in 1999. Have not found data updated to 2007 so far. Round numbers, 25M homes without a mortgage out of 65M homes.
