How to prepare for Tornatoes in moble Homes?
Answers: I've lived in a mobile home for almost 12 years, & we have tornado warnings frequently. My philosophy is that if God wants you, He will take you out of a cinderblock underground storm cellar, & if he doesn't you have nothing to worry about. My home is anchored well, but it wouldn't stand up to a direct hit. I guess I'm a realist--I won't worry about something I really don't have control of.
It's better to be outside, laying down in a ditch, or the lowest part of the property than in the actual trailer; or get to a public shelter or neighbor's basement if you can.
My work place is being sold ! i like my work but not the company taking over. stay? or move on ??
Answers: If you like the job, don't rush into moving on. Just wait and see what happens. Surely a few months wont make too much difference. You could hand your notice in when you are 100% sure it's what you want. Think of the benefits you'll be losing with regard to holidays, sick pay etc. Wait and see what happens - you never know the new company may want voluntary redundancies and you'll get paid for leaving anyway.
You have to decide yourself, but be careful. A friend of mine worked for a company for 28 years and it kept changing hands. The last people who bought it made him redundant, but because he had only worked for the new company for a couple of years, he lost a lot of money!
Check contracts carefully if you stay on.
I would give it a try and look round for an alternative. You spend so much time at work that you really have to like some aspects of the job to do it effectively. If after a while you are not happy, you will have had a chance to look for an alternative job and hopefully arranged things so you butt end them. You don't need to tell your employer when you go for interviews to line something else up. A bad move would be to have a jobless period. That will wreck your finances.
If the rest of the staff are staying and you like working with them that would be a reason to stay. If the management are going to be in your face that would be a reason to go. If it is easy to find alternative employment that you would like, go.
If the location is convenient for you that is a reason to stay.
Don't look on this as a problem, think of it as an opportunity to move on, do something different, be adventurous!
