Breaking a lease? Advise needed please?

I just signed a lease agreement beside a landlord who is providing me a room within 3 bedroom house.
He printed out a generic lease from the internet. It was a lease form for a month to month lease. He merely crossed out the month to month part and made it 6 months, he initialed here and so did I.

However, one of the clauses titled termination states:-
The tenancy can be broken by any party by giving 30 days see.

So, what does this mean. Do i enjoy a 6 month lease that i can break or will the termination clause just be considered an error?

I'd definately check the laws within your area, but frankly my initial response is that you should tell them within no uncertain expressions that you want the tape stern immediately or the locks are going to be changed, and they'll find their belongings outside surrounded by 30 minutes.
