If your heater or stove breaks in your apartment is it the landlord responsiblity to fix it?
Answers: Yes, regardless of what the lease says.
You cannot legally rent an apartment without heat and if the stove was there when you moved in, then that is part of the lease.
People need to stop saying that "depends on what the lease says" because just because it's in the lease DOES NOT automatically make it legal.
If the item is a fixture in the apartment, the landlord is absolutely responsible, in fact, if you attempt a repair and it goes wrong, you will have damaged your landlords property.
Also, any item that has the possibility of giving off noxious gases, should be inspected annually, to ensure the safety of residents.
Write to your landlord, officially reporting the faulty item and keep a record but please don't attempt to use the faulty heater.
Since heaters are almost always the property of the landlord yes, he is responsible for keeping it in working order. If your living in a place that the stove also belongs to the landlord, that to is his responsibility. If it's your stove, it's on you.
