Is it normal for rent to go up $100.00 after living in apartment for a year??
Answers: Right now, yes. Due to the amount of people who have had their homes go into foreclosure and the economy being bad there are more renters and the demand has gone up. It could also be caused by a rise in taxes or energy/water bills if the landlord covers the bills that causes the rent raise.
It's not normal or not normal, it's simply if the Landlord or Landlady wants more money or not. Maybe they have bills to pay.
I am a landlord and I have recently just raised my rent another $250, my previous tenants were college students and they would trash my property such as marks on the walls, break my washing machine and refrigerator's I supply for them. The worst part is if my furniture gets damaged, Money comes out of my OWN pocket to pay for them, not THEM.
Increasing the rent may be caused by more people living in the apartment, more noise, or more damage in the property.
it's what ever the landlord thinks the market will bear
