they have $250 for the deposit, couldnt I purely move out and let that remuneration for the 2.5 wks I'll live there? what could come up if I do that?

Answers: You can always ask your manager if they are willing to maintain your deposit for rent. Most landlords will not except this...but since you said that they're totally remodeling the apartment when you move out anyways they might be willing to except it.
If you be still living at the apartment: They'll go through the eviction process. When you're 2-3 weeks chronological due for rent, they'll serve you a notice. Within roughly a month, the sheriff will come to your door and evict you along near your things.

Now, you're talking in the region of just departure -- in which armour, of course, they can't evict you from their apartment because you aren't near.

They'll most likely convey you a letter. They'll right to be heard you owe X amount (the remainder of the lease) for leaving. You'll enjoy to pay this inwardly the timeframe they give you.

If you don't, they'll eventually slip away this debt onto a debt collection company that will call and correspondence you constantly -- harassing you to pay the debt you owe. If you don't compensate this debt or respond to the debt collectors, they will put it on your credit report and it'll essentially be ruined. You probably won't be able to attain approved for things like utilities, apartments, vehicle loans, etc., anything that runs a credit check on you.

This is basically what will evolve. Eventually, if the debt still hasn't been remunerated a year or so down the road, you could be sued or you could have a judgement levy against you.

The last stage (courts, judgements, etc) dependent on abundantly of things, including your state. No one can be sure what will happen when the debt is several months or years aged.
but is it right? doesnt that violate the contract you signed?
doesnt matter if they hold the security they could still step after you for the remaining rent
