Property Rental contracts -Spain??

Does anyone renting property in Spain know, if it is the ruling, that the rental goes up every year according to the cost of living, or is that purely at the discretion of the owner?

Answers:    Hi, I own lived in Spain for 5 years and as far as I am aware it is standard practice for your contract to enjoy written into it that your rent of your apt will go up by the cost of living respectively year. I have remunerated the extra each year and it typically only work out between 15 - 20 euros extra, so if you salaried 600 euros a month this year it may go up to 620 euros subsequent year. Anyway I hope this answers your question.
As contained by many other European countries the owner of the property is allowed to increase the monthly rental, at one time every year, by a property rental index akin to the CPI. That is true for Spain.

I know that surrounded by Belgium the property owner is not allowed to increase the rent above and beyond this index, contained by which case it favours the tenant as capably if the supply/demand balance go from surplus to shortage. I'm not sure if this is true in Spain.

Anyway, you're other bound to be better off than surrounded by London where you can close up doubling your rent just because Nicole Richie moved contained by downstairs.
