Q in relation to possession statute and rights?

Im in the Army, and just this minute we have be moved into a newly renovated housing block owned and maintained by a civilian company. We rate rent each month and enjoy a our own rooms. However, upon moving in, we be instructed that we were disallowed to install any of our own furniture, decorate, droop pictures or our own curtains (even though some rooms have not be provided with curtains yet). Also, the heat doesn't work in plentiful rooms. What rights do we have as tenant in this situation, and what obligation do the civilian landlords have to us? Are they obligied to sort problems such as no curtains and imprecise heating as soon as possible? And can they dictate to us what we can and cant do near our rooms, bearing surrounded by mind that we pay rent close to any other tenant? As it stands, some residents have put up their own curtains to provide them near some privacy, only to be told they'll be charged for doing so (despite the tenant not having a set date for providing curtains as yet).

I would get the CAB to hold a look at the lease. There are certain conditions a manager must adhere to. As tenant you have more rights than you might expect. I don't know exactly because I don't know what country you're contained by or how the army deals next to it if it's accommodation organized by them. But I do know that here contained by the UK you are not even allowed to put up so much of a picture hook without your landlords say-so, but you do have rights when it comes to the manager not abiding to the terms of the contract (ie. furnished/none furnished) and next there's laws to protect tenant in circumstances of form and safety such as no heat or lack of hot marine for example.

I'd suggest the best place to ask advice would be through the empire who organize the rooms for you, be it the army or an estate agent... you should of course homily to your landlord concerning any faults surrounded by the property first and give them a karma to offer you a date that the problems will be fixed by. You enjoy an absolute right to privacy, thus they cannot penalise you for putting up curtains as it would'nt be reasonable. If the heat is faulty after you should ask for immediate repairs. The inexact heating problem! YES, they own to get that resolved next to in a credible time frame. Which they should notify you of. The curtain issue? Well, you would be breaking the contract if you put your own up. So if I was you I would ask them to install some at full tilt and have it specified to how soon it would be. For the connote time just use some big pieces of cardboard to set contained by the window, for privacy.
Talk to welfare or ssafa although it isnt strictly speaking MOD property, they should be capable of sort it. i assume you pay rent through your wages resembling the marrieds do, in this grip if we need any repairs etc we contact MODern Housing Solutions, who the military enjoy given the contract too. I f we are unhappy next to the service they provide or they dont provide one full stop then i ring up welfare.
At the end of the afternoon you have a right to privacy and esp heat, and if the MOD are renting the property on your behalf then it is up to them to chase the company to hold the basic standards met. The heat should be fixed asap and if they cant fix it for a few days, they may well lend you convector heaters.
In MQ we own carpets and curtains within the house when we move, even if the house is rented as unfurnished. We can put our own up and decorate if we want as long as it is returned to the imaginative decor before we move (ie if you paint the walls blue they have to be painted backbone to magnolia before you vacate.) likewise any incapacitate you find its best to repair before demonstration out.
We have a convoy in where on earth they point out all the flaws and shoudl we find any after motorcade in we hold 14 days to report them. After that any damage they find on our demonstration out we are responsible for and billed accordingly, unless we repair it.
Years ago they used to hold a housing officer on site but they have only just shut these down when MHS took over the contracts for repairs and stuff.
You could also ask in the hive, they conceivably able to furnish you more info on the legalisties of it all, but first i would speak to your welfare officer. Only lift things further if they cant help. But if plenty of you complain you should get something done.
I enjoy to say that adjectives the welfare officers i enjoy spoken to have be really good and valuable and if they cant help directly they will update you who can.

The army put you within the civilian accommodation, so visibly your landlord isn't that bothered more or less the standard. You haven't exactly got the remedy to move.

You can complain directly to your C/O, but he isn't the MOD contact with the contractor or you can contact SSAFA who are ideally placed to sort both the MOD and contractor jump.

Your not surrounded by a civilian landlord situation, you're within barracks run by civilians.
