BEFORE you rent, ask the other tenant in the building how capably the landlord keep up with continuation. Is there any crime within the area? Anyone selling drugs contained by the building? Any loud parties?
Anyone who is low will be glad to tell you around all the problems.
Worst be a basement apartment next to absolutely no insulation within the ceiling which meant you could literally hear the family in the apartment above sneeze. I'm not kid! We heard them hold sex, heard their conversations, everything. Unfortunately every tenant that lived within seemed to be a dark owl. We got just about any sleep as a result & moved. (In my country there is no imperative re making a property quiet via insulation so be nothing we could do).
Landlords that do unlawful things like come to your home when you're out minus letting you know & they go through your personal stuff. Is especially bad if you are a childlike woman (they might go through your lingerie).
Just find out what your rights are re landlords, etc.
first up give somebody a lift pictures of anything that might be broken and then own the landlord sign something.. i know that sounds unusual but when it comes time to move out you dont want to pay for anything you didnt do...i could write a book nearly my last proprietor.. she was a mess and so over whelmed next to life.. took her son 2 months to fix hole within ceiling where it collapsed from the relations above a/c leaking!! Having to move AGAIN within less than 1 year due to the hotelier getting forclosed!!
