I would like a condo/apt/loft surrounded by the heart of the city for one ($700-1100/mo - I'm flexible). I prefer character over other amenities (wood floors, elevated windows, exposed brick, etc.). I am a immature professional, but a little thud wouldn't be a problem.

Answers: I would recommend the Canal Square Apartments. They are only a short bearing from downtown and are right on the canal. From what I've heard/seen the occupant are typically young professionals and/or students at IUPUI.
The apartments are right contained by the heart of a lot of comings and goings, museums, restaurants, parks, bars, etc. And, as I mentioned above, they are right on the Canal, which is a great, locked, clean place to pace your pet.
