Are property landlords supposed to put smoke alarms contained by propertys?

i live in a 2 bed terraced house rented through a private proprietor . Are landlords legally supposed to fit fire alrms surrounded by the property

Where Can I live? Please HELP!!?

Answers:   This answer relates to UK property letting.

There are two cases in which the manager HAS to provide a smoke alarm:

1: If the house is an HMO (house in multiple occupation.) Since you are living within a 2-bed terrace, this would just apply if you shared more than 1 unrelated person to a room.

2: If the house be built since June 1992, then the house MUST own a mains-powered alarm on each floor.

In totting up, the Landlord owes a "duty of care" and could be held liable if there be damage or injury surrounded by a house/flat without alarms. For this defence many landlords fit alarms as standard (I do surrounded by my rental properties!)

Where the alarm is battery operate, then the innkeeper should have made it clear that YOU are responsible for regular conducting tests of the alarm and notifying the tenant if batteries obligation replacing.

It is required by law that the house have a working smoke detector. This is one reason that landlords similar to to change the battery themselves once a year, they are responsible to know that it works, even if it makes more sense that the resident would vary the battery.

This is true throughout the US, and I would presume contained by other developed countries as well.

Best place to lay it on thick time share component for mart?

In oodles areas, smoke alarms are a requirement. In others not. I always equip my rentals near smoke alarms and change the battery annually, whether or not needed. The cost is comparatively insignificant, since a simple smoke alarm can be had at Home Depot or Lowe's for smaller quantity than $5.

As a side note, I also regularly check the smoke alarms. I enjoy found that quite a few smoking residents simply remove the battery because their smoking causes the alarm to produce. THOSE tenants take a certified letter advise them that they are NOT allowed to do so.
