I am looking to move into a great, CHEAP 2 bedroom apartment with my daughter, and sister. My sister have decent credit, not great, not desperate. I have devastating credit. Just awful. They run a credit check on all adults applying to live nearby. There are other apartments out there, thru owner that I could occupy. However, this one is a large amount. Is there any channel around this dilemma?
Answers: TALK TO THE MANAGER about your credit problems BEFORE they run a credit check. If you can possibly explain why your credit is so crappy (beyond "forgetting" to reward your bills) such as a job loss or something of that make-up, you may be able to draw from in next to a bigger deposit or something of that nature. Whatever you do, DON'T try and pretend your credit is wonderful up to the point where on earth they run it and find out it's not - that'll just tick them sour because you're wasting their time. Be honest and hope for the best - and if you get surrounded by, PAY YOUR RENT ON TIME so you can start rebuilding your credit! Good luck!

The thing is to yak to them about your desperate credit...explain why it is bad and what you are doing to repair it, and show them documentation of any income so they see you can afford the place. Be prepared though...while some complexes are of a mind to talk to you and consider doomed to failure credit, some have set guidelines on the subject of bad credit that they lately cannot break.

3.Have someone co-sign for you
4.Put down a hulking deposit or pay several months of rent upfront
5. Have your sister rent it and tag on you on the lease later(have her check that if she finds a roommate or her sister moves in beside her later can they make the addition of the roommate to the lease?)
All adults that occupy the residence must have a criminal/background check. Do you really want to live within a place that "looks the other way?" While you may hold credit issues, your neighbors could be felons.
Most landlords will still rent to you, providing you stumble upon the Rental Criteria, they just ask first and later months rent in credit...
they may ask you to pay a bigger deposit. or they may ask you to pay packet up front maybe three months rent or 2 months rent. so you'll be paying ahead of time for living within that way they can sort you move out if you can't make rent.
or someone to co-sign who have good credit
