Bank of America - Certified Check HOLDING!?

My friend purchased a car of mine today and give me a Certified Bank check from his credit union. I deposited it into my Bank of America story and they are telling me it will not clear until 6/6/08 thats 10 days!

Thats crazy, Its other next daylight or maybe two. Anyone know what is going on? Or anyway to receive it a shorter time frame? Ive called everyone I know at the wall they are telling me at hand is nothing they can do.

Probate query?

Answers:   Did they describe you it was going to help yourself to 10 days when you deposited it. If they did, you should have gone to your friend's credit association and cashed it and then deposited the dosh at BofA.

They usually do require a longer time frame for larger check deposits.

If the check is above a certain amount, your mound will wait to recieve the funds (or be told if the check is cancelled/stolen/bogus/etc.) from the other hill where the check be issued before releasing the funds to your portrayal. This doesn't actually cart 10 days, especially now next to electronic transfers between banks, but 10 days be the standard set when everything was done in black and white, and banks verbs to stick with that timeframe. BOA usually places a hold on checks over $5000, even next to certified funds. Their policy.

The first $5000 is available, but the amount over that is "frozen" for the hold extent. If you normally construct deposits inside the bank & they know you, they may shorten up the interval to 5 days or if you have their upgraded "Platinum or Gold Account". (where you get hold of the free safety deposit box because you own over $10,000 in your account)

I hatred it when banks put a hold on cashiers checks, but here is a lot of fraud. One entry you might be able to do to speed up the process: progress to your bank banker and give her the contact info for your friend's mound. They may be able to call upon and verify that cashier's check came from your friends guard. Ask your friend the name of the bank clerk that wrote the cashiers check, and tell your mound to ask to speak to that person specifically. it doesnt close-fisted that it will not clear until that day it simply means that it will transpire by that date...usually it doesnt take that long...however a few things...alot of bank do this if you only hold a certain amount already surrounded by your account..let say smaller quantity than what the check is for.. also there is a huge problem next to scams right immediately so the banks are trying to keep under surveillance their back if ya grasp my drift..i mean if you really needed the money asap you should hold had them telecommunication the money into your account or give you straight up cash money kid!

Help! Why do I hold to receive my apartment mate authority for an individual lease?

There is a huge rash of counterfeit Certified/Cashiers Checks at the moment, so they are being prudent.

Life is tough. If I needed the bread so quickly, I'd hold demanded cash contained by the lobby of my bank and instantly deposited it.

It depends on the amount. I remember when my bonus check be deposited, they had to clear it contained by two parts over 15 days or so. Not sure if that's how all bank work, but that's just how BofA works unless it's a direct deposit.
