I'm pregnant, my apt reeks of cigarettes and paint. I've lately moved in at the ruin of April of this year. I'm expecting in July. I don't know how to rid of the smell.. Yes, I can see the smell comes through my door because there's a big crack at the bottom of my door!! I haven't complained yet because i thought I could lend a hand make it travel away, but it hasn't. I am not confrontational. I do not want my baby to come and grasp sick from breathing this air. The longer I stay immediately, I don't feel remarkably well anymore any. I notice my apt is intensely dusty as well. The smell is contained by all my closets!! Everytime I undo a closet, the smell is so strong.. I swear its a mixture of smoke and paint. I know they told me they freshly painted the apt. I know the maintenance dude smokes. So I wonder while he be painting, be he smoking too? AND did they not allow the air to circulate near opening the window?
the neighbor smokes. Also smokes marijuana. Came home 1 night and the corridor strongly smelled of weed.
Answers: Are you asking if this will be grounds to break your lease with out cost? If so, the answer is probably not.
However, most leases within my area own a clause that lets you break it. However, you hold to give 30 days thought and pay a cost that is equal to 2 months rent.
Read your lease and see what the vocabulary are to break it.
I would suggest working with the government to find an alternative apartment in the complex past you decide to try and break the lease as the latter could conspicuously cost you. You can call the police on the neighbor and own a record of the report. Then you present that to the hotelier. The landlord have to make sure drugs are not man used on premise. If s/he does nothing and the pot smoking continues you name the police again. Get another report and go bargain to a lawyer. Landlord is not taking responsibility for the safekeeping of the tenants if criminal is not evicted. Then try to get out of your lease base on the fact that you've complained (do your complaining by registered messages, btw, and keep copies) and own police reports to substantiate your claims and the landlord have not acted.
That might take a while and hiring a advocate isn't cheap. Maybe you should just communicate to your landlord and see what they influence. Good luck.
No grounds for breaking your lease here. You knew you be pregnant when you rented, and you knew the apartment be freshly painted. You are stuck for the rest of the lease.
Open your windows and nouns it out, use air sanitizer (e.g. Oust) spray, and grasp yourself an ionic air purifier (it have to be the ionic kind, close to Sharper Image). The air purifier will be especially adjectives with a latest baby because it cuts down on cold germs and adjectives kinds of things that could be detrimental for baby. It also cuts down on dust and save on housework.
