The worst traffic jam are about one and the same as normal road traffic within California. Housing is a bargain and so are alot of other things. You don't attain mountains or beaches, so you'll probably miss the backcloth. But you'll likely be capable of afford better vacations. The airport is uncomplicated to fly out of. I'd suggest looking at Lenexa, Overland Park or western Wyandotte county close the the racetrack.

Any place has to be a better place to live than Southern California...specially near teenagers on tow.
