No opinion about your skills! But I own couple of sites where you will find offline & online projects outsourced by webmasters from many parts of the world. Gross Receipts on Schedule C?
I am an independant contractor and this is my first year filing for my business.I received a form 1099-misc from the company I did work for, and I own income under box 7 "non-employee compensation".
I hang on to getting an error when I e-file my return in regard to the Gross Receipts portion on Schedule C cannot be left blank or nil...but I don't know what the Gross Receipts are.
Can anyone clarify for me in "laymen's terms"?
I'm only just not getting it and the tax preparer site I'm using is any vague, or I'm in recent times too tired to "get it" right in a minute. haha

Answers: Gross receipts is your gross (all) your income, whether it was reported on a 1099 or not. This is the amount from which you can take off your expenses.
