Stay away from consumer electronics and computer stuff if you plan on buying new and reselling (very low mark up on these items and too much competition)

How Do Hotels Work and Operate?
I have be planning for quite some time to become a hotel owner. I want to own nice 5-star hotels surrounded by a few select 'busy' cities. But, i'm a little clueless on how they work. Does anyone begin to know to start one? about how much it costs for a nice hotel? and what the work chart is similar to (ex. Owner leads to lots departments, which leads to cleaning staff.. etc.)Oh yeah, also, does the hotelier (owner) own to always stay on grounds? can they leave your job pretty much for good and set off it up to the managers?

Answers: You can formulate it as big/complex or as small/simple as you want. You can work the entire hotel by yourself or just you and your wife, or you can money a manager to work for you and never hold to step foot on the property. Obviously the owner doesn't have to stay on the grounds, or Holiday Inn, Hilton, Trump, etc hotels would not be capable of exist.
To buy or build a regular hotel will cost at least $500,000. If you're trying to build a 5-star hotel it's going to cost you millions.
If you are still pretty immature and can afford to do it, try to get a career in a 5-star hotel as a bellhop or a maid or working at the desk. This will get hold of you experience of exactly how a hotel works and you'll get salaried for it, although maybe not the greatest. It will also assist you decide if this is really something you want to do for the rest of your existence.
