My husband and I operate a small construction business and received a check today that be not signed?

I am so irritated about this I cannot even commence to tell you! We hold been waiting on this sum for awhile and we finally get it and I be getting ready to take home a copy of it and then I realize that in that is no signature on it. I called my husband he said to freshly sign it myself. Well, I know that I cannot do that. Can I deposit it, or would it come back? Am I going to enjoy to mail it pay for to get is signed? I surface like this company did this a moment ago to get us to dally even longer for payment. Thanks for any guidance.

Answers: You send your meanest, ugliest, largest member of staff there beside the check. You tell him to be terrifically polite, and not act threatening. And he get them to sign it.
It won't go through unsigned. They did it intentional - delinquent payees often do this "oops" they will influence. "Must have forgot"..."be so worried about getting the clearance to you..."

If you live within driving distance, come first over with the check and ask them to sign it.
Sadly, i.e. one of THE oldest tricks in the book for stalling making a money.

Do NOT forge it, send it spinal column.
Do not sign it yourself. That is fraud and could get you into trouble. If it is a small check, you could try to deposit it in need a signature. If the teller doesn't stop it, it will probably go through.

If it is a significant check, the bank may check it more accommodatingly. What is large plenty to make it a generous check? Sorry, I don't know, and that probably varies depending on the bank's policy.

I once received an unsigned check (about $500) lower than similar circumstances. Believing this was no coincidence, I decided to deposit it and see what happen. The check cleared with no problem.

Good luck.
Simple Answer: NO, you can not sign the check. Two wrongs do not gross a right.

This is a case for the District Attorney's Office. Make sure you can prove length of time the reason is "over due". The DA may consider maleficence and bring it to bear on the issuer of the check. The DA usually give the issuer "one request to send to the DA a check". If he issuer does not, "hello court time".
You are one scammed. If you are desperate for the money drive it round or hire a debt collector local to the company to take it spinal column for signature.

If you forge that cheque you could go to gaol. (Jail for Americans). Also, you will hoplessly cloud any litigation you involve to pursue to get the return.

If you cannot get the cheque signed surrounded by person I would at the completely least achieve them to sign an acknowledgement of debt and that the work was completed properly near a payment diary. Otherwise if you do sue them you will suddenly start hearing give or take a few "defects" in the work.
