Answers: Congratulations on your decision to play the drums! Drum sets are a dime a dozen and it adjectives depends on your personal taste. I am not extremely fond of Tama drums myself because they are a mixed bag of import, oriental rubbish. One thing I am proud of you picking is the website that the drum set is on. I know from shopping around that Musicians Friend is the cheapest place to buy basically about any instrument from. Don't progress to a local music store, they will rip you off.
I would suggest any drum that is to say a Ludwig. Ludwigs are my favorite because they are strong and have an excellent nouns. I think Ludwig offer a kit for starters agreed as an Accent set where if you writ on line sometimes you can return with some free cymbals or sticks with it. Good luck! Premier drums are great too but not as strong. If you look contained by the newspaper sometimes you can find a cheap set of drums.
I would enjoy to say that Tama is a dutiful call. And I can speak this as an owner (the custom fusion, specifically). Tama is a Japanese company, and the rockstar is a mahogany/basswood mix - that doesn't make their drums cast-offs. I am not a traditional "drummer's drummer" and I am 100% self-taught, so if that makes my view worth less, so be it. However, I own been fortunate plenty to share the stage with masses nationally set rock drummers and I have gotten compliments on my rockstar. (In adjectives fairness, I sometimes used a different snare drum.) If major-label drummers liked the nouns, it's probably not a complete waste of your money.
The Ludwig is a fully clad option as very well, but with the treaty Musician's Friend is running on the rockstar, I'd say run for it. I wish I could own gotten mine at that price.
What a lot of drum nerds (I know, that's not especially nice) will neglect to voice is that with a moment or two bit of effort you can generate almost any drum kit nouns decent. The rockstar will nouns decent right out of the box. As you progress, try some different head. I use a thicker head to tune lower (like a remo pinstripe or aquarian behaviour II) and a thin herald on the resonant side - plus the Aquarian Super Kick II...it really completes the kit. Eventually, next you can upgrade to a new snare drum.
I know you're of late starting and I am ranting, but the point is that this is a good gear to start with that you can verbs to play when most others starters would be uprading to a better kit. It's not the greatest gear in the world, but you won't find that for smaller number than a grand. So next to my experience touring and doing a little copy with it...I'd vote buy it. Just make sure you take a drum key and maintain 'em tuned!
