Anyone know in the order of working at a Spa?
I am graduating from Massage Therapy academy next month and I want to start looking for a chore now. But I don't know where on earth to start. Are Spa's looking for massage psychoanalyst that are certified right now or will they not mind that I am almost done? How much do you engineer at a spa as a massage psychoanalyst? Would you prefer working at a Spa or a Chiropractor's office? Anything you know I should know roughly a Spa would be a big help for me. Thanks.Answers: I am a licensed press therapist (LMT) within Texas but have also worked within several other states. I would definitely a bit work at a spa because psychologically people are within more of a relaxed and happy state of mind whereas at a chiropractic bureau (DC) they are injured or sick and are very moving; you are exposed to a lot of ardent negativity. So you as the MT need abundantly of support which you wont get at the DCs department. DCs tend not to pay you very well at all and you dont carry tips. In Austin they pay $10 to $15 an hr. At spas you catch tips and often discounts for spa services yourself - facials, manicures, massage and salt glow, etc. Both jobs are difficult on your hindmost, hands and wrists though. Both are problems for Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSI) and both are usually module time jobs. Work for yourself doing outcalls through word of mouth referral. Only way you can work for money within Texas is when have finished college and get a Temporary LMT license consequently within 6 months transport the state board and get the perm one. Depends on the state you are within. But the massage dream therapy school should train you just about this. You are required to know the laws of your profession, and they are going to be on the state board. Everyone loves getting massage, but they dont want to continue next to chiro. and I have have this be a real problem within the DC office up to that time because it is their office and they manufacture A LOT more money off chiro than they do your massage Plus the massage surrounded by a DC office is really remedial massage and not especially good for entry height MTs. I am not saying you cant do it, but you will hold to write medical type notes and sign stale on documents too. Therapeutic massage next to a person within pain is fundamentally VERY stressful and draining on the MT. The last spa I worked at I averaged $40 per hour including tips (I get 65% and that is a greatly high payout within Austin). For myself I average closer to $65 and charge $125 as a base for an outcall for residential or commercial on -site. But I be able to cart several clients with me from that spa when I moved out and then they give me a lot of referral and that is how I get started working for myself. This is tricky at a spa though so you have to mind. If they asked me for a card, I gave them my card next to my cell phone on it. I do not feel bleak about it because the spa be not following all the sanitation law it should have and the clients know it and they stopped going there anyway. I chose not to enjoy an office because I do not want the overhead ongoing expense of department rent. I have see some massage psychotherapy clinics like Massage Envy wage you $15 an hour plus tips which average $7-$10 an hour. This is bad reward for the amount of work and strenousness of MT. I call them warehouse stroke clinics. To make any money surrounded by massage you own to be sure you have the skill to get hold of results and work for yourself and/or open a chafe school because i.e. where adjectives the money is made. Plus when you work for yourself you can choose your own equipment and supplies like lotions and oil and even more importatnly KNOW THAT THEY ARE THERE WHEN YOU NEED THEM!! Because a lot of these places do not transport care of the laundry and supplies, etc. I enjoy been within the business since 1975 Best of luck to you

I worked at a spa as a receptionist and i didn't like it... most of the clients be gross men and i couldn't believe what the therapists have to put up with... i'd voice go near the chiropractors office... it purely sounds more professional.
