Legitimate market survey companies such as Pinecone Research recruit members based on demographic characteristics -- e.g. mothers of babies 0-12 years old -- and will send surveys of products and services targeting this demographic group. Pinecone Research, however, pays only $5 per survey -- you're definitely not going to be rich with that. They can give you anywhere from 1-5 at most surveys in a month.
Other companies simply ask you to answer as many research as possible, and you don't earn anything just the chance to win at a raffle (which I find lame).

I have been successful with a.d.s.e.n.s.e and pretty happy with it till now, what i suggest is start your own blog/site and monetize it with a.d.s.e.n.s.e, or get some content writing assignments, you can also try data entry or writing sponsored articles and reviews.

I dont believe they work.No idea about your skills! But I have couple of sites where you will find offline & online projects outsourced by webmasters from various parts of the world. You will find projects right from ordinary data entry to webdesigning. Remember you will have direct contact with the outsourcer here. You will not spend anything except a registration. I say they are legitamate bcoz of two things a) Am associated with those sites from last one year and earned b) They will make payments thru safe escrow.

I'd try to stay away from "work from home" typing jobs.
While there IS money to be made from home, typing or surveys are not the best way to go.
The best way to go is to start your own business!
When I say that, I mean there are really a number of ways to make money online.
Here are just a few of them:
1. Make a website or blog on a topic that you know about.
Then, you sign up to a.d.s.e.n.s.e and other PPC content sharers, and you make money when people click on your links.
2. Sell an actual product
You can still make money by selling advertising space, but this way, you make money by selling a product.
3. Sell a digital downloadable product.
Like an eBook or some other type of digital product. This way, you don't have to deal with postage or anything like that. It's like an online vending machine!

I also started selling Natrual Dog Food, kind of like a Mary Kay/Avon business...but easier...people go on Autoship you don't have to chase them down...and it is a great product delivered right to my customers door. They love it, especially with the 40 lbs bags. There is quiet a bit money to make, but it requires some work. I do businesscards and hand out flyers some online marketing etc. The training is great, your own hours etc. This is the best thing that has worked for me. And I tried it all.
