My father is the sole proprietor of a small business, and he has had no problems with FedEx -- and he imports and exports machinery quite a bit. On the flipside, my cousin works for one of the suppliers for the Big Three, and they have had problems with UPS not filing Customs paperwork on time for imports and exports. The problem there is the importer is the one who is held responsible -- NOT the shipping company. So FedEx gets my vote.
Organize the organization Construction Co.?
I work for my father and he runs a construction company. Which means lots and lots of broadsheet work. I was curious if anyone have any tips on organizing. Also I go and get alot of papers i dont know what to do with and i own a huge box full of stuff that he does not go though.Answers: Accounts receivable contained by one pile and accounts payable in another.
Must enjoy an accurate and up to date balance sheet.
A folder for each customer or for respectively project.
A file for payroll
A folder for tax deductible receipts.
A profile for equipment inventory and maintenance
Every point, unidentifiable or not sure in a box and dupe it "Archive".
If you throw away anything that appears useless he will suddenly need it. LOL
I thrive on outfit. My best tips:
1. Throw away anything you will never use again. Get rid of it!
2. Put everything away (in a box or drawers) that you are not currently working on. Only current work should be in judgment.
3. Label everything. From drawers to file folders. Everything should hold a "home."
