I am a regional manager for a retail/wholesale corporation. I am building the structure for a contemporary location that we opened. I hold a “manager” in place but he lower than qualified and ill-equipped to manage the location as is growing fast.I need a organizer and an assistant manager for this branch. Can I hire two potential guidance candidates and relay them that the best performer within 3 months will be the branch manager and the other guy will any be terminated or become the assistant manager?
I know this sounds cruel but I think the competitive spirit will bring out the strongest nominee. Could there be any legalized ramifications for handling it this opening?
Answers: If he's unqualified, then I would agree to him go. Go ahead and hire 2 candidate and see how they perform. Make them both assistant mgrs and see what happen, give the senior position to the one that shows potential.
