How to re-enter workplace after 17 year bunking off?

17 years ago I drew house plans for a living. 17 years, 2 children, and 2 grandchildren later, I want to restart my drawing work. How do I proceed? This time I want to work for myself. Do I need a levy number? Do I need to register my fresh business name anywhere? Any relieve will be greatly appreciated.

Answers: I think your prime problem will be marketing yourself. You can start work as soon as you get it but you ought to pop into your local tariff office as they will hand over you all the information you requirement. Your status can be sole trader and you do not need to register a company describe, although you will need to put a business label on your next rates return. That can be anything: your own name is fine. It's central that you keep library of all income and outgoings and the date that work is done. A diary and cashbook or spreadsheet will suffice. You will any need to reimburse class 2 national insurance contributions or apply for exemption as your income may be low to start with. Again the toll office will present you information.

Drawing by appendage is a rare art. Today's drafters are mostly automated via ACAD or some other bundle. Automated drafting is not faster but allows for revisions to be done faster. Being that you have be away for 17 years it will be hard to compete esp as a unmarked business. The good word is that ACAD is not very not easy to learn the unpromising news is that it is expensive but worth the price. I would promote you to get the restrained version of ACAD stick to small clamber residential and maybe contribute your service to small scale Architects who enjoy no computer skills and need some extra abet. There are some out there.

Answers: There is a new company that has been set up called My Secret Kitchen, it is a food based party/ direct selling idea. All you need is to love food and to be able to talk to people!!

You run it as your own business and make the money from there, it fits in well with family life and as it is new you start at the beginning all the local area is yours!!

Have a look at the website and see what she thinks.
There are any things she can do.secretarial work, work in a shop, ask the council for any parttime work, working in a school.

Hope she finds something soon
If she wants something to do from home, how about childminding? It is a bit of a hastle getting registered, but once you are it's great. You pick your own hours, work from home, get to play with kids all day and get paid for it!
