UPS shipping question?
I know it varies per pack, but how much does the UPS usually charge to pack an item. It's an amp and I really don't want it damaged contained by any way. It's prevailing conditions sized 13inch H x 18Wx 13L and about 25 pounds.Also, is it true they charge extra if you ship through the UPS store? I want to ship UPS ground. How much extra do they tack on than if I go to a shipping center?

Last week I walked into a UPS store and be told it would cost me $18.71 to ship a one pound package from New York to Houston ($12.71 for shipping and $6 for packing).
I compared that price to the UPS website and saw that it would be $9.65 (of course I would hold to pack it) but it was 24% smaller quantity.
I then checked the box that said I would furnish it to my driver and re-priced the package; it be only $7.27 (13% less).
Just out of curiosity, I go to UPS.com and looked up how much it would be to ship your 25 pound amp; it was $33.97 to ship it ground to CA from NYC. If you own a daily pickup next to UPS, it was one and only $23.14--or 30% less.
So if they charged me $6 for a small 1 pound bundle, you could easily retribution $10. I think you could payment as much as $40-$50 to ship that package at the UPS Store compared to doing it yourself.
If you want someone else to pack it run to the UPS store, If you pack it yourself go to the UPS center or hub directly to ship it. Yes the UPS store will tack on a small tax, but they will pack the s** out of it and guarrantee it. The actual UPS shipping center will not pack it for you, at least the one I workout of won't.
