Can our net developer located surrounded by Mexico, stop access to our busines site even though he have be remunerated within full?
My husband and I decided to hold a web developer contained by the US add a shopping pushcart recently to our business site, and settled not to go next to the guy we worked with within Mexico. He is not owned anything and the reason we didn't progress with him is b/c his fees be higher than expected and didn't construe what he was base his fees on for installing a shopping cart. After we comunicated our decree, he has changed passwords on us and have said that the website is his and not ours. We didn't have a written contract but we salaried him for a couple of years of hosting, and setting up the original website in need a shopping cart. This individual surrounded by Mexico is an English man, whom my husband was competent to contract and we thought he would have business nouns. Not sure if we have a leg to stand since his business is surrounded by Mexico and works as a contractor.Answers: If you were paying him for hosting as powerfully as development, next he's holding the cards.
If the domain name is registered below a different company (highly recommended) then one alternative is to only point the domain name to a different trellis host and upload your files (or duplicate as best as you can).
If he's got the domain baptize as well, consequently if the domain name is your business's registered trademark and/or trade dub, then you can transport a cease-and-desist letter to both him and the comany providing the domain registration service, which you can track down using WHOIS...

Whatever solution you budge with, separating the domain first name and hosting service is highly recommended. I wrote up a full page worth of adjectives the reasons, here...

By the track, which shopping cart did you train up with? Typical open-source solutions are osCommerce and ZenCart. The one I recommend to most of my clients though is Drupal's eCommerce, for both features, reliability, and flexibility...

Yep, you're screwed. This is the plea I learned to build my own websites. I will never again be held hostage by some idiot trellis designer that charges high fees and produces nil of value. If possible basically start from scratch and build another site next to a new domain nickname. It's probably cheaper and less time consuming than trying to argue the guy in Mexico while your infirm site sits idle and produces zilch. And make sure you hang on to control of all passwords, do your own domain registration, and other crucial information so this doesn't evolve again. Also be sure to write an iron-clad contract with whoever builds the site stating that adjectives content of the site is YOUR PROPERTY and the designer will submit all work and files to you upon giving for their services.
