One of the things I do on the side is I design shirts and flog them through cafepress. You can setup your own online shop for free if you only requirement to put a couple designs on it ($6.95 per month for unlimited uploads/sales/products). There are many different sites out in attendance that you can do this with, one of the leading ones is www.cafepress.com. The others are 99dogs, spreadshirt, shirtcity, and zazzle. There are a few more but the names escape me at the moment. What you do is you filch your design and upload it to your cafepress site, pick the products you want it on, and the rest is up to CP. When someone places an order or you want the actual shirt they print it, ship it, and cut you a monthly check for the amount of sale you had (sales x markup). If you are buying it yourself you foot for it at cost without your markup. A simple white shirt beside your design on it would cost somewhere around 10 bucks. When you get into the colored shirts, they are much more pricey.
I quality it's easier than dealing with a big inventory of your products sitting in your subterranean vault, and basically you can start this for $0. If you want the premium shop (which I suggest) it costs $6.95 per month.
