Should I unfold a franchise?
Question:
What are typical franchise costs? Should I open one if I know the industry. Can I bring back a loan to start up my own business?
Any help appreciated on small loans and franchises!
Answers:
Franchise costs alter depending on who the franchise is and also the type of store you are planning on setting up. Opening a franchise is very difficult, fun, and on the other hand painful. It puts a great deal of stress on you financially and personally. I own a friend who started his own business franchise of Nestle Toll House by chip, he was asking impossible to tell apart question you are. He fixed to take the shot and do it, and he did. To produce a VERY VERY long story somewhat short, he ended up operating it for 3 years and have to close it due to money issues ect... It ruined his credit and the personal pressure that him and his wife took back home beside them ended up surrounded by a divorce court. Now neither of them have anything, and they split as swiftly as they signed papers to open the store.
Taking his exact situation into consideration I would suggest that you do NOT partner up your business next to your husband (if you have one) if you don't regard you can handle coming home next to aggravation everyday from your employees and conceivably a very slow business days/weeks.
Nestle Toll house by Chip is one company that unquestionably lied to current owners, and they are still doing it to this day. My buddy started his business by paying for the moniker Nestle, he paid lots and lots of money to keep hold of it a franchise to mainly attract more customers and use huddle products. But was it worth it to him? No. He immediately regrets it. Keep in mind that it may certainly be worth opening your OWN store underneath your OWN name for this exact sense. Nestle's website says they never have a franchise in NH... they are wrong. Call them and they will give an account you the same, but I own paperwork and proof that one did in reality exist! What company's tell you to win your franchise business is mostly a lie. Do your research contained by the area you want to overt a store up in! Nestle told him he'd do great contained by the area he open up in, little did he know that (us within NE) don't by cookies as much as people contained by Florida or Texas. At the opening of his store he did do great, it be new to the nouns and people flocked to it surrounded by herds. We have lines!! But after a period of time, the lines get smaller and smaller.. I had to permit people jump except people that he could 100% count on. Where we have 3 people working on counter, months earlier he close we had 1 personage doing hardly have enough work for himself never mind the 2 others. Think and do your "OWN" research, hire a private company and grasp local statistics YOURSELF before you invest, company's will LIE to you of late to get your business.. this is a prime example. The address use to be Nestle Toll House by Chip, Mall at Rockingham Park within Salem NH. You wont find any evidence online from the franchise owner that this ever existed, but come to the Mall and you'll hear everyone talk just about why it disapared. Truth is, there be no market for cookies (EVEN beside the Nestle Logo's)
Keep in mind that some stores "seem/act" close to they are going strong because they are in business for years, so not every cookie store contained by the mall is equal. The reason why most stores do well brought-up compared to him is that a lot of them are NOT franchised stores; but however company owned, and when a store is not doing so hot with income they can nurture off of others surrounded by the chain that do! Stores similar to this that leech, are normally closed down... but not always. Most business try to build/have the most stores located everywhere surrounded by the country. It makes their product a highly developed demand. So most habitually THEIR bad stores wont close down.
When business started to seize slow, they made increases to the prices which furthermore turned more heads away from them resulting surrounded by business closure. They had to pay envelope a franchise fee, but over that they had to payment Nestle .10 for each cup/or anything next to a printed logo on it. After the owner KNEW he was going down big time, he started buying plain cups and plain napkins at BJ's (which is significantly offensive to the franchise, and is not part of a set of the agreement that he signed.) He tired to make every penny count to release his life, but that be not good ample.
Yes it's true, the franchise does come up to check on you anytime they want, they will just come into your store and see if you've be making any violations to their contract and other things. Also they setup a POS system (which you hold to buy) which automatically uploads your end-of-the-night figure to their headquarters. They can see how much and WHAT you've be selling. They will notice you don't get rid of something that *they* think should be selling dutiful somewhere else and wonder why? They will have you plug this product more then something else, also a BAD view.
But I can not speak for how you will do or anyone else who have *made it*, I only just know of this one situation and I would strongly be advised of every step you generate. There is BIG risk involved, you may possibly end up loosing your house over some big relieved go-lucky corporate franchising doush bag. It's his livelihood to make more money by getting more individuals to open up stores, of late as it's your dream to be able to start your own business and hold a lifetime income. Choose your dream wisely. Any further question for me, you can email me.
Take my word for your question - NO NO NO to franchising...
First, if you mentioned you know the industry, do it alone. And do you want to own and be your own boss? You are not the Boss if you are a franchise owner. Inspectors can "visit" from time to time checking if you are following what you enjoy signed in the contract as a franchisee. One more article, WHY pay Royalties if that money can be surrounded by your pocket already. You dont need a franchise, i put in the picture you. Most just WOW you next to great branches doing good but does not show you a unbroken bunch struggling!
Hope that helps...

Lina's Lingerie--catchy, but you'll enjoy to pretty much only go lingerie haha
Linda Lots!! or His & Hers...
With really low prices and high competence merchandise, the profit potential appears limited so I suggest "Here Today Gone Tomorrow"
"Threads for smaller amount, your Good Cents Store"
Beverly Thrills
Rodeo Thrive
More for Less
Cliqueless in (your town's name)
Boutique 4 U
Designs on You
Be reliable of names that mimic designer stores. We have a thrift shop in Sacramento call "Sacs Thrift Avenue", but Sachs 5th Avenue sued!
HiLo, like Hilo, Hawaii.
Really low prices and dignified quality clothing do not typically be in motion together, unless you are selling used clothes. Since your example is Big Lots, I surmise that you are trying to attract people near the promise of low prices and let them be surprised by the sophisticated than expected quality. If this is your strategy, after you could try a name resembling "Unexpected Treasures"
If you want to attract people near the quality of your merchandise and enjoy them be surprised by the low prices then you might try a mark like "Mode".
Good luck.

Since you are a nonprofit org, you can apply for grants from the rule and various foundations. I suggest you poke about for 'intergenerational' grants at www.grant.gov.
Alternately, you can contact local business where you attain your supplies and see if they are willing to donate any excess stock or sponsor one of your 'teaparties'
There is a nonprofit call "Material for the Arts (MFTA)where nonprofit orgs can go and gain all sorts of art and craft supplies for free. This is surrounded by NY, but if you are not local you can see if there is anything similar within your area, or contact them to see if they own any suggestions.
Have you considered selling your wares at a local flea or farmer's market? Often the crafts and arts in attendance are hand-made.
For the rest of your plan, all you obligation to do is get a senior's center to work next to a school. Seniors at senior's centers can still be upbeat and everything, and also necessitate some companionship in a family circle setting. On the other side most parents would enjoy giving their kids more things to do so they're not simply laying just about the house. So talk to one group, and the other, see if it'll work.
The seniors may also be inclined and happy to serve you in your business endeavors, from helping you to create products to helping you deal in them.

for instant popularity say response to my Theives Guild of the commonwealth.
Consider getting the book "eBay for Dummies". I have no association next to this book or anyone that sells it.
It have a lot of information and is worth the price. It will answer this interrogate and others that you will encounter.
I would suggest you invest in a suitable accounting software package to hang on to up with your sell and expenses. Also, be aware as a sole proprietorship, all your assets are at risk if you are sued (personal property such as cars, house, guard accounts, and etc). Is it considered doomed to failure etiquette to put in my biz card to an item made as gifts for my client?
Question:
it is a gift that have my handiwork,embroidery- Am I mortal too forward?
Answers:
For a client or business associate it would be entirely appropriate if the gift be a thank you for their custom.
For a personal gift for a festive episode such as a wedding, birthday or holiday, a calling card beside just your autograph (or your name and your company's name) on it would be far more sinuous and appropriate. (Write your address neatly on the stern as a courtesy so they won't have to step searching for your address for the thank you details.)
If the recipient is already a client of your business, and i.e. why you are sending the gift, I would enunciate no. But then if the receiver is already a client why do you need to dispatch a business card?
It would be nice to put your business card inside of the gift card next to the gift.
If you are sending it to them because they are clients, next no.
Now, if you are sending friends a gift and put in your biz card, then yeah, i'd read out that was gummy and a good mode to lose the friends you had since.
If your client doesn't know then yes.
Think of it resembling the internet, and your embroidery is the website that I go to see, your business card is the pop-up.
If I be the customer who bought it to give as a grant, I would never return to buy again from you knowing you had such underhanded marketing practices.
Now what would not be singular is if you had your baptize on a label, along next to where it be made etc, or if you had the baptize on the gift box.
But a business card is road too much.
How much would a shoe store bring in a year?
Question:
i love shoes and want to own a bussiness can any body give me an estimate of how much they variety
Answers:
No, this depends way too much on opening too many different factor.
How many society in your nouns? What's their income bracket? What kinds of job do they have? What's the mark-up on the shoes? What's the rent and other expenses?
There's no instrument for me to estimate a market contained by your area. One example is that within my area we may hold a lot of millionaires, and they may buy hand-made Italian shoes, respectively pair costing thousands, thus making the store a huge nouns. Or I could live somewhere where the relations just buy shoes at Wal-Mart.
Also it's one entry to love shoes, it's another to be an entrepreneur. Just because you love shoes doesn't mean the bazaar in your nouns can support a shoe store.

Weekly pay cheque @ home working as much or as little as you want to.
As far as online surveys go, they are a complete WASTE of time. They compensate very little if anything at adjectives and half the time if you answer wrong they will let somebody know you that your not part of the correct open market that they are looking for.

There are a great deal of companies have sale reps turn their homes to the Home Office. Every website I have visit from googling 'small business grants" wants me to reward for a book or cd to be informed on goverment and federal grants. A loan is a debt incurred over a fixed time of time and needs to be repaid next to interest. A loan to a company or organization appears on their harmonize sheet as a liability. Loans can be made from family and friends; from financial institutions (Banks & Credit Unions) and from investors (Angels and Venture Capitalists). Regardless of the source of the funds, the loan should be treated like peas in a pod way and interested should be charged and salaried by the respective parties.
A forfeit is a gift from any a government or private management and is given for a specific purpose for the “public benefit”. To a company or organization, a allow appears on their balance sheet as an asset and does not entail to be repaid. Applicants need to prove that they can fulfill the specific purposes of the allow.
Unlike what is typically broadcast on late darkness television or published surrounded by some of the newspapers and magazine, there are no administration grants for private companies unless they are involved contained by very logical research in the military or vigour arenas or they do business in enduring designated geographical areas and contribute to the economic and living growth of the residents of that area.
Since you won't be exit until Spring 2008 I would strongly recommend that you talk to a business counselor since you do anything especially spend money. Since you know where you intend to establish the business, I'd appointment the local office of SCORE (go to http://www.gain.org and input your zip code to find the chapter nearest you), the counsel is FREE.
The counselor at SCORE will most likely recommend you to write a business plan which is very polite advice because it will force you to verbs out all of the start up details and the costs of starting a retail business and force you to also recognize all of the aspects of this business including the customers you'll concentrate on (your bazaar ) and how you'll go after them.
Talk to your counselor at SCORE in the order of the possibility of a grant singular because since you'll be setting up in a rural nouns you might qualify for something that the SBA might be sponsoring (I won't hold my breath)
Try this link :
http://www.ychange.com/small-business-co...
and read some of the articles especially the ones in the region of a business plan and starting a business.
If you have question join their Bulletin Board and ask question, they'll respond pretty quickly and the suggestion is free also.
Good Luck
You can talk to any credit association they are open to the public or you can look up a Financial Advisor contained by your town. You did the right thing and not falling for those so call "free government grants". those things are a headache (i did research on some of them for my own knowledge)
Grants are almost impossible to find to start a business, especially minus any business experience or education. A business plan will be a must. Software is available fairly cheap for this (consider Business Plan Pro), also it is offered at the SBA site.
You may qualify for a Small Business Administration Loan, their link is provided surrounded by reference below. They also, provide numerous tools for developing a business plan.
You state you are are trying to swot the fundamentals of starting and operating a small business, consider purchasing and reading in detail a few accurate books on starting a new business. Amazon.com have some rather inexpensive books on the topic (less than $20.00 each).
You may consider working at a retail store for awhile, to follow the market, pricing, and expenses involved contained by the business. Also, it will give you a fortune at understanding the time commitment, if you are the owner realize your daytime is not over just because the business is closed--you enjoy inventory to buy, bills to pay, deposits to spawn, accounting to perform, and conceivably a payroll to do, and etc.
There are essentially only 3 sources for grant.
Federal grants are call Small Business Innovation Research grants. These are given primarily for some unknown innovation. You can find out what's available at www.sbirworld.com. There is also info on this site about how to apply.
Some cities contribute grants to small businesses if they will locate within the downtown area, for the purposes of building up downtown traffic. Check beside City Hall.
Finally, private foundations offer grant. You can get a chronicle of most US Foundations and private grant sources at www.foundations.org/grantmaker...
Why does my colleague win adjectives the benefits?
Question:
I've been working for a small company (3 days per week) for nearly 1.5 years. My colleague, who is full-time, on payroll, and have a contract, who I trained, has be consistently been getting benefits, salaried vacation, and bonuses for doing similar work (with smaller number responsibilities). She may even be making more money hourly! On top of all this, it have been 11 months since my later wage increase.
I have my own small company (OMNIVISION DESIGN) and adjectives cheques (from my boss) are made out to it.
Am I entitled to any benefits as an individual who operates his own company and is doing contract work? If not, is it natural to ask for more money per hour?
I have more responsibilities, speak english and french fluently (my colleague does not), and I do more work outside of work (I will soon complete a 350 page book I read for work) and!
I maintain asking my boss for more responsibility and she seems to ignore/postpone. My boss would sympathetically agree that I am more productive than my colleague.
Answers:
No contractor is entitled to benefits, and few if any employers submit them. As a contractor you're not an employee. a short time ago a vendor. As a supplier you have a right to tilt your rate, but the employer is free to find another vendor. If you want insurance buy it. There are companies who vend it to the self employed.
You are not a full time employee so you are disallowed to the same benefits as a full time hand.
If you are genuinely a contractor you are competent to renegotiate prices if you wish (subject to existing contract awareness periods etc..)
If you are within Britain the Inland Revenue may well picture as employed if you work regularly for the same client (See IR35).
I devise you ought to get allowed advice roughly maximising the money that is salaried to your company (your salary). There must be better ways to hold on to it, considering that you don't get perk like your colleague/s. In the U.K., at hand are ways to class some income as tax-free because of charity or loss-making, but I don't know about the Canadian system. This may not assistance with the work cross-examine, but maybe you could benefit more financially from the company that you work for by getting some warning.
You keep referring to your boss, but you also read aloud you own your own company. Which is it?
If it is your company, you set the price. You clients can either move about with you, or be in motion with someone else.
You are not a full-time member of staff, AND you do not work for this company, you own your own company and are contracted to do this work. So no, you get no benefits.
You dont obtain raises if you own your own company, but you could increase your rates.
People typically get raise only once per year, after evaluations... but as you said, you are out of commission for this other company, you own your own company, so there is no evaluation.
Are you a 1099 member of staff, or do you get W2's? If you receive W-2's, then you are working directly for this other company, and they are paying partially of your income tax. You would receive benefits possibly, but you are part-time, so probably not.
If you gain a 1099, then you are purely a contractor... be content you have the work. You reward all taxes, so you should obtain more money to cover that. There are no benefits to people who find a 1099... you are on your own to provide all of that.
Part time team rarely carry any fringe benefits.
Independent contractors NEVER get them. (But since you refer to the individual as your "boss" you may actually be an hand not an IC, at least if you're within the US.)
If you're an IC and are not satisfied near your compensation, bill them more for your services. If they refuse to earnings, move on.
1.You are not an hand, You are your own boss with your company. This would preclude you from getting any benefits.
2. When your contract comes up for renewal, after you can negotiate a better price for your services.
3 Again, the contract would prohibit the boss from deviating aganst it untill the contract comes up for renewal.
4. The other person is a full time member of staff for the company and is entitled to raises and benefits. You are not because technically you are not an member of staff of the company. UNDERSTAND?
