Is running your own business sturdy and what is involved?

Question:
I am going into the cake decorating business and makin cake and cookies as a career and be thinking of one day vent my own shop and was newly wondering is it as hard as everyone say and what is involved. Any advice or information greatly required. Thanks.

Answers:
Paula,

I grew up in a domestic business (kitchens and baths) and married a man from a family doing like peas in a pod - (Ironic we both went to college for anything but) but he's within his family's business now - and I run my own business from home (as we own 3 kids)...

++++ you have something you want to do you don't need to ask stale.
You want and need 3 weeks leave a year, go.
You work intricate the rewards are very amazing (we're blessed next to many things (nice cars, break homes)
You are proud of your accomplishments and remember the early days -

__ it's greatly of work - you work endless hours
put up near the bs of hiring and firing people and pleasing the world -
-- even near the time off and not answering to the 'boss'
you other have work on your mind and within general conversation -

Everyone I know whose successful works their tail off.
but the rewards show - biddable luck sounds like a great business to be surrounded by.
running a business is easy its usually something you savour doing what is difficult is paper work arange an accountant and capture some good business counsel good luck
I could really do next to a cake or cookie right now :)

You cant get rid of food made at your home, you have to hold the shop first. The shop would be alot of work to begin next to, but if you have the time(and money), it shouldn't be too strong.
I have started some on chain businesses and find that I spend about 3-4 hours a time working on them one is

http://hushabyebaby.zlio.com/
I use to make cake
The hardest thing be pricing and talking nearly money. B strict with your self esp when it comes to friends, If you want to make a contribution discounts start high and afterwards let them negotiate you down
ie if cake cost $200 (including your labour and 100% profit) manufacture your list price $220. You will know how to give strangers 10% discount and home 20- 50% with out it hurting you
first do your income and expenditure - is in that enough emergency for cake decorating surrounded by your area, are you an experienced baker, will you brand name enough to foot rent, council tax, hose down rates, electricity, wages. Ask some bakers shops in the nouns how much they take for a garlanded cake - my area for a birthday cake adorned is lb25 - you would need to roast a lot of cake to breed a profit. I would work from home and make some money to see you to open your own shop.
worthy for you. i agree with the others though, it can be tough at first so try running it from home for a while, that process you are not forking out for premises before you are even making any money!!
I surmise it's as hard as you produce it.

Starting out it's hard apparently, because you're clamouring to get business surrounded by, and doing a million things.

But after a bit it seems to be smaller quantity hard, as those million things you divide up, some you do really ably after learning, others you swot up to delegate to workers.

And some people manipulate it all near ease, approaching it's nothing, others carry really stressed out like it's duration or death.

So again I chew over it's as hard as you produce it. It's obviously harder than have a normal available job for someone else, but on the other hand it have far more rewards than any other normal livelihood.
Some tips to give you in the past you start and fail to succeed.

Before you unfurl any you need a comprehensive Business Plan.to include a marketing plan, financial plan, capability plan, operational plan, sale forecast, costing plan, and a risk assessment. Just to start

In this plan you need to explain the who's, what's, when, where on earth and how's concisely.

You will need to do a open market survey to include the type of customer, where the customers will come from, how you will drive the customers to you, why you perceive that you will do well.

You will call for to make sure that you own totally researched this to make sure that the business will do resourcefully.

given to you by a Business Consultant assist small business.
get a book, it will share you how easy it is and whats involved.
YES DEFINATELY.!!
-----------------------------
I AM A TRAINED BAKER &CONFECTIONER,HAD A SHOP YEARS AGO,THAT LASTED 2YEARS.WORKED HORRENDOUS HRS,STARTED AT 2.30AM COULD FINISH AT 7PM.ALL FOOD INDUSTRIES WORK LONG EARLY HOURS,YOU HAVE TO BE REALLY DEDICATED.
MADE HUNDREDS OF WEDDING CAKES,BIRTHDAY CAKES ETC FROM HOME.WHAT REALLY IS HARD IS EXCEPTING IT CAN BE ALL OR NOTHING,YOU ARE NOW UP AGAINST THE LARGE SUPERMARKETS,SELLING OFF CONVEYOR BELT CAKES,THEY CAN SELL THEM CHEAP.YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE YOU WORK IN BATCHS TO SAVE ON ELECTRICITY,TIME.

THE ONLY WAY TO DO THIS,IS MAKE SURE YOU GET A AN OUTLET TO SELL YOUR PRODUCE,THE MAJORITY OF SMALL BAKERS ARE LONG GONE.ITS THE AGE OF THE WEDDING FAIR, MORE THAN EVER AND READY MADE.

GET YOURSELF A STALL AT A MARKET,OR GO AND CHECKOUT WHAT YOUR UP AGAINST,WORKING WITH SOMEONE ELSE AND BUILDING UP YOUR OWN CLIENTELE IS WHAT WORKS BEST. WORD OF MOUTH TOO. GOODLUCK!
I started my own business and it be tough.

Best advice I could contribute, is to go on a small business training course.
Your local jobcentre will hold details of any enterprise centers in your nouns. You will find out any legal requirements, how to do book keeping, how to do profit and loss sheets, forecast sheets, work out your GPP, how to write a business plan, so on...
Sounds complicated and scarey, but knowing how to monitor your business manner you can see when things arent working and what to do about them.

There is also a great book call ' from Acorns...' I'm sure you'll find it on Amazon, but it gives you great proposal, I read loads of books when I started out and this one was the best!

Ofcourse you obligation to know your market and research, research and research some more!

Good luck!
Some things I wasn't told!!:

At tiniest to start with you may find you enjoy to earn lb3 to take home lb1...and you own to do 3 hours of work for every paid hour of work: i.e., you lone get salaried for making cakes but you still own to do sales and admin and they are time-consuming.

There are 2 kind of business: one is extra money for holidays etc and the other is the real item that actually pays the mortgage/rent and feed you. It can take ages to construct the transition.

Some businesses work from day1 others take a while to get hold of the right kind of momentum.

Talk to friends/family next to experience.

Yes, have a business plan but purely start too!

Hope that helps.

Going into the fish business? click i know you can sustain me?

Question:
ok
here's what we are working with.
i am just about to go into the fish business.i already own a boat.i am planning on opening a store where on earth i have fresh fish on sale(clean and package and delivered to prospect customers)

what i involve is information on how to get started.
-advertising/marketing
-equipment and supplies
-prospective customers
-how should i run about getting them(questionnaires, phone please facilitate!!)
-since i'd be delivering does location business?
-apart from fish what else should i include(sell) or should i be offering free things along with the fish deliver
-what are the different perks should i include to hang on to customers and how do i build customers

i know it's kinda long but please help me

thank you

Answers:
Firstly, if you enjoy no experience in the retail side of your fish business, I'd advocate that you get some experience or partner near someone and divide the responsibilities between someone working the boat and someone selling the product. This will cover some of the work experience that you'll need to read between the lines and run the total business profitably.

If this is your first business venture, I would strongly recommend that you bargain to a business counselor before you do anything especially spend more money. Since you are surrounded by the Caribbean, I'd call the equivalent of the Better Business Bureau and ask if they enjoy free counseling for small businesses. Explain what your are trying to do and ask for someone who has a environment and experience as close to what you want to do, and they'll try their best to match you next to the right counselor.

The counselor will most likely recommend you to write a business plan which is very suitable advice because it will force you to verbs out all of the start up details and the costs of starting a fish business and force you to also apprehend all of the aspects of this business including the customers you'll concentrate on (your souk ) and how you'll get them to find out and want to come to your location to achieve fresh seafood.

The location of the retail outlet is important but doesn't brand it successful. To prove that all you own to do is walk down a street surrounded by your town where near are several like businesses adjectives in a row and you'll find one or two that are aimless while the others are very busy. It have to do with how they plug, and your reputation at the beginning and over time.

You also enjoy to have food handling license, the right zoning, the right city and county licenses and permit and you have to be skilled at negotiate with your tenant about who'll stand the cost of the build-out or the change to the premises to make it geared up for your look and feel.
You also hold to worry something like the normal business planning and supervision issues related to starting up any business.

If you fail to find someone, lift a look and read some of the articles at:
http://www.ychange.com/small-business-co...
especially the ones about a business plan and starting a business. Also try their Blog and their Bulletin Board. If you will them questions, they'll respond and the direction is free.

Hope this helped.
Well - write a business plan..
Good Luck.
Wow, apposite luck with that.what are u gonna deal in on days when u dont catch anything?
Seems risky and seem like ur not a professional.

Help me please?

Question:
okay i have close to 25 vhs movies i am trying to sell i own had for a awfully long time i want to sell them at a courtyard sale how much should i flog them 4

Answers:
I hate to recount you this, but unless they are really good movies, VHS movies usually turn for about 25 cents to a dollar apiece.
Start illustrious and be prepared to haggle.

Much depends on subject, condition etc.

eg: fairy tale will work good beside grand parents.possibly.

Just do it. :o)
Call your local block busters (or equivalent video rental outfit) and ask them if they have VHS movies for public sale and the cost.
Then be prepared to set your price at 50% less than that.. Of course i.e. the asking price (starting point for haggling). BTW -- make sure you carve them as ' SOLD AS IS CONDITION "

Good luck
start off near them at 5 dollars a piece and then see what everyone say!

Answers:
It's more or less what's doing what's best for the company. If you see something that could be done differently and help benefit the company than be sure to present it that means of access. It sounds like a sticky situation, but the realization of it is that you hold to work there too. I would approach your arranger first. When it isn't corrected approach the next surrounded by line. It's not fair-minded to you and as long as your being harassing it should be corrected.
Start getting confirmation of unsafe tasks in writing and next discuss with your Manager.

How do you become a website designer. i am 13 and its adjectives i want to do...?

Question:

Answers:
Go to school, achieve a part time opening with a Web Page designer or bring back Page Builder going. There is nothing wrong beside page builder, in practice, but other Web Page software allows for a more "professional" look and after your going to have to work the behind the times man for a really good computer.
Get a clothed design program, do some designing! Show them to people you trust (you don't enjoy to upload em) and see what they say. You may already be superb at it. Just hold a go and adopt criticism.
Practise. Lots and lots of practise. And it takes time, too.

I be 11 when I first started web design. I discovered this site I really loved and it have tutorials on it for how to make websites along next to a bunch of games and stuff. I started off near Matmice, then Freewebs, afterwards Geocities, then eventually practised on my dad's domain.

I found more tutorials and kept trying out unusual things until I got better. I have my first website at 11 years old, which be successful in a 11 year old's eyes, but perchance not to an adult!

I'm in a minute 14 and have made message boards, radio sites, design sites and more. I've made lots friends along the way and even met one of them. (I'd set her for 3 years, went near an adult and met her contained by a mall, freshly to let you know I be careful!)

It took me a perfect 2 years to become good adequate to know php and make radio sites. You can't lately learn it surrounded by 2 seconds, unless you're a rare talent or super hero!

And you'll most likely have need of some programs like Paint Shop Pro when you attain really serious about it.

Remember, start of small (like FrontPage) and you'll eventually be capable of move on. (Like using Notepad.)

Good luck!

Business planning that did not work for you -?

I considered necessary to sell my art online. However I didn't deliberate about traffic, so though I have a website I didn't have the traffic to create volume of sale.

I'm going to do something else, but this time I'll think of the traffic. If I do get rid of my art in the adjectives online I'll use ebay where the traffic is already at hand.

I didn't invest much so didn't lose much, it's sort of sad but you can swot and do better next time.

Is starting your own business a correct thought?

Question:
I don't know what I want to do but I got inspired by small, close-knit towns and conceivably opening a bakery/coffee shop type article. Is that far-fetched or is it actually conceivable? How thorny is it really?

Answers:
The short answer is it depends.

Some of the questions you have need of to address:

- Where am I in energy and can I afford, financially and/or emotionally, to undertake a startup?

- What is my risk profile? How much downside can you come through?

- Am I suited to starting a new business? G00GLE entrepreneur questionnaire and answer some of the survey questions.

- If you are married and/or enjoy kids, are they prepared for long hours and time away from home.

The foregoing answers some of the questions concerning you.

You should also be asking question about the probability of the new business startup. What is the souk? Who are the customers? What is your competitive advantage? Who is the competition? How much money do you obligation and how will you finance it (family, friends, credit cards, angels, bank, etc.)? How will you price your product? Do you have a distribution strategy? Is your company web-based?

There are masses good books and blogs that can serve you with your request for information. Goodle startup books and startup blogs to get started.

Good luck,

Jack
I suggest that you run to score.org for excellent design and, if there's a local SCORE office, call on the folk there. Their guidance will be excellent and, best of all, it's free of cost.

Good luck.
If you are an sparkling, hard worker beside good business sense it's a great belief.
Nothing beats a washout, but a try, and if you find something that inspires you, and you choose to do that then stir for it, because now days near the economy going the instrument it is the best way, in a minute still continue to work though only in skin your business falls through...
If you arent afraid to work

have the time

hold the money

and have an hypothesis...do it
Well, I would say starting you own business have its good and bleak sides. First, you will be working for yourself, not someone else. It is usually very expensive contained by the beginning, especially if you're doing it by yourself and can transport some time to show any profit. If you know the market, you can do rather well, but it's still a risk, especially near a small business.
Write a business plan...the answers will emerge.
Opening your own business is the only road to becoming the owner of your own time on this planet.

So is it a good belief? . in my feelings, its the only belief you should be thinking about every wake hour.

As long as you are content to have a employment and work for someone else.well, your time...or unreplaceable time... is someone elses too.

best wishes :)
You should also consider risk factor and investment cost. Offline business such as bakery or coffee shop will own a much higher risk and investment cost compared to online business.

I would suggest that you could grasp into internet or online business instead.

What's the best VOIP service for a small business?

Question:
Anyone have any advocate to give on this topic?

Anyone find any comparisons?

Thanks so much!

Answers:
Great initials - what is the facet that is worth getting a compressed voice procession subject to delays or jitters beside unproven companies and an unsure projetion of future costs.

When VOIP is no longer sold as a BRAND and is sold because it does something that will be the time to purchase --but next you won't care or spot. In this case you are mortal sold technolgy primary just for the sake of it.
Feature astute - Packet8 has a really cool small business setup that is to say very much a small PBX next to individual lines for offices, centralized switching... It's a really cool service.

For straight voice trait, the winner is AT&T. But you are on your own to provide the mobile infrastructure for your business.

That being said, I'd bring in sure you've got really well-mannered internet service before you switch to VOIP. Standard DSL (in my experience) doesn't cut it. You want something with a guaranteed bit-rate and a accurate up/down speed before you try VOIP. There's nought worse than being on a vital sales appointment and having to ask your client to repeat themselves because you keep hold of getting a dropout in the voice talent. It's REALLY hard to explain at that moment that you're on VOIP service to put aside $$$. :)

(And unlike the previous answer, I've worked for a major telecomm company AND I've deployed VOIP service at two business and our house.)
