Has anyone ever have a want, or ever used, a home inventory documentation service?
Question:
My wife is planning to start up such a business-- you know-- professionally videotape and photograph, and document-- contents of a home?
I tell her that if I requirement to do it I'll do it myself. She says there's a open market and a need for insurance purposes, for estate planning, lawyer, etc., etc.
Answers:
What your wife is trying to do is create a service where a involve exists and fill that stipulation. You say "I relay her that if I need to do it I'll do it myself" Most associates don't realize the need until it is too unpunctually. This is why we put it off. (So, since you know of the entail, let me ask: Have you yourself made a video of your household products? No? See what I mean?)
Most inhabitants know they need this. In the covering of a fire, when it comes to valuable items, insurance desires proof. (My daughter lost EVERYTHING but the clothes on her back and insurance give her peanuts!)
What I recommend is that you find out what the competition is doing, what they are charging and find a way to do it better for smaller amount. Even if you undercut them by $5, in this daylight and age, it can be the reason someone chooses YOU over them.
As her spouse, you should be encouraging her, not playing devil's fan. Let the family friends do that.
As for David, I judge he meant that a poor video of an item can construct it look less valuble than it is. When insurance go to pay for it, you take less than it is worth, because of the video. When videoing something you want the owner to tel you nearly it so that you can show it off best. Good equipment and polite lighting can go a long instrument to making this a better experience, too.
I have used one, and they are righteous. But they can be very expensive. Also they can be extraordinarily detrimental to your needs.
Ask her for a business plan when she's done one, later base your judgment on her figures and thoughts, instead of on your bias.
Just because you don't use it doesn't miserable there's no market, only no market for men such as yourself.
Her open market may be more women for instance.
At least ask her who her bazaar is going to be, and how she intends to reach them.
I really want to start my own business unpaid?
Question:
This is while I will be working 40-50 hours per week at my full-time job!
What are some recommendation you can make far as reading bits and pieces goes and ease that I should know?
Any sites you recommend? Any experiences? Anything will be helpful! I am particularly excited knowing that I can have a business of my own, I am likely to do whatever it take to make it successful and put contained by the time and hard work and dedication. I will start it as a small-business and through time hopefully it will turn into a huge business. I hear that starting a business on the Internet is the best way to start?
Thank you!

Congratulations on your desire to better your situation- as economically as recognizing that teaching is one of the first steps.
Nobody can tell you what to do- or which business is "best"
I enjoy friends who are multimillionaires in genuine estate, others are rich from MLM, still others are investors, and my friend Rusty is a florist. I like masses thing more or less mlm- but it's not for me-I prefer real estate and other business/investing models.
It's rock-hard to give specific answers to broad questions but here are a few fundamentals-
1. Decide exactly what you want. How much do you want to earn , how oodles hours do you want to work, etc. Find the most successful examples of this business and STUDY them. Find a way to restore the product, it's marketing, price, quality, or?? Find a specific problem inwardly this product group that's not currently being addresed- and create a solution.
Always suggest first in language of what your consumer wants and needs- afterwards give it to them while making a profit.
2.Make a document of your skills, passions, and interests. Think of ways to incorporate them into a business. It's abundantly easier to put in the time building a business that you attention to detail about.
3.If you've found something you want to do but don't own much time or money- do what I did- Find someone to be a mentor. I decided I considered necessary to learn to be a legitimate estate investor.I had no saloon, no money and was homeless. What I did hold was plenty of time (lol) and a strong desire to do something to upgrade myself.
I sent letters to 5 strangers offering to work for free- within exchange for learning their secret. 2 took me up on it with recompense and an apartment! I learned how to find a property beside hundreds of thousands of dollars of profit potential- and find someone to loan me the money to buy it
Successful people are usually glad to relief people who are feeling like to help themselves-and even more feeling like to help if it help them..
4.Hang out with the family you want to become like. Know someone successful? Offer to clutch them to lunch in exchange for asking them question. (I've never had anyone permit me pay yet- and enjoy gotten investors, friends, and valuable guidance from all)
5.Websites,Authors, etc- when I was 15 I be homeless. It was winter and I hung out within the library on days I couldn't find work. I started reading books on success/investing/etc. That was 11 years ago- my life span has changed dramatically! Read 1 hour EVERY daytime on something that will help you.

I'm sure more people can answer next to additional details, but here are some essentials you'd need if you be in California:
-If you're selling stock, you have to procure a Resellers Permit from the State Board of Equalization (at least surrounded by California). If you sell things, you'll inevitability to charge customers sales excise or pay the sale tax yourself. You hold to file approaching monthly or quarterly sales statements.
-If you want to enjoy a company name, instead of your own personal describe, you have to wallet a Ficticious Business Name statement (a "DBA"=Doing Business As) and run a legal spot in the tabloid. (Note: you will get closely of junk correspondence after you do this! Lots of people scrutinize those for business mailing list.)
-You have to hold a Business License for the city you live in. Call your City Hall and they will give a hand you get the information you necessitate for a home business. Some cities require you to have a loyal room (or at least "space") to conduct business within. They also list what kind of businesses are allowed to run out of a home, some places also have rules similar to you can't run a pornography website, for example. A lot of cities in the Los Angeles nouns will not allow you to run a business out of home if customers come to you.
-You'll need to clear a bank description if you're doing business as a name. Even if you're doing your business underneath your own name, it's astute to open a separate sketch strictly for your business to help next to bookkeeping.
-IRS: If you're a Sole Proprietorship, I don't hink you need to folder for a Taxpayer ID number. I think you lately use your own personal SSN (They have an 800 number you can telephone call to ask for sure.) If you make a correct amount, you have to wallet quarterly estimated taxes. (Call or go online and request loads of their forms and read them.)
-State Tax: check on your state for excise rules.
-Website: you might want to register any variation of your business designation or initials as a website address. You also should do a thorough web dig out to see other companies which have impossible to tell apart name or similar name. For example, even if your last pet name was Nissan and you be a mechanic, you cannot run a business as "Nissan Motors". You'd be sued and lose!
There's more, it's been awhile. I decision you lots of luck. Use that enthusiasm to keep yourself motivated when you enjoy to do the humdrum legal file stuff. :)

Any common rule of thumb on product pricing?
Question:
I convert a few raw materials into finished merchandise. Mostly my value comes surrounded by the labor (the product is fairly generic.) But is near any general rule of thumb for how to price the finished produce? My current guess is that I should price at:
(1.3 * X) + (3 * Y) = price -- where X = materials and Y is labor.
I realize this requirements to be sanity-checked against competition, current market prices, but I'm looking for any rough rules of thumb. (For example when I run a straight service company with minimal objects costs, I was told a virtuous rule of thumb was that my revenue should be in the region of 4x my labor costs for the revenue.)
Thanks in finance. (And any sources are HUGELY appreciated!)

Starting up a craft business?
Question:
I make jewelry and hold been told numerous times that I should start selling the things I get. Currently I am on track to become a school instructor which should give me weekends, summer vacation, and at least one or two night a week to dedicate to my now-hobby of making jewelry while still maintain a steady job and steady paycheck. Hopefully wise-budgeting and some extra money from selling my crafts will be capable of carry my through the summers other.
This business would be run entirely by myself with little to no outside give support to. As such, I am not looking to set up some giant store to be the sole focus of my business-life, but instead maybe a website beside certain items for public sale online and selling items at local craft fairs.
Should I set up a website to reserve the company dub I have come up beside and possibly offer some items for Dutch auction or just stick to the craft carnival thing? What is involved beside starting up a company like that?
Answers:
Now your thinking! I started my business at home, and eventuall have to move it to another location. You can keep your prevalent job whille working near your (I call mine, my hobby business) other smaller business. You are doing the smart meditate by keeping a steady paycheck while you startup your craft business. Craft fairs are fun, but study the booth rentals, some can eat you alive. In Pine Mountain the booths are 35.00 during the dancing in the streets season. But in Columbus they are 150.00. I can't break even contained by Columbus. It cost too much in overhead to budge there.
But within are always profusely of places you can display your work, like places that hold a lot of traffic. You may want to contact your local SBA for the legalities, and reserving your label. You can put your business plan in an envelope and certify correspondence mail it fund to yourself and keep it hermetic. You may also do the website thing, Allo would want a trademark (tm) and your business name would inevitability a all rights reserved or a copywrite. You can put on the market on line, and other places also. Visit www.blujay.com I own a store there very soon. It is totally free.
I sell fairly a bit there.
I hope this help you.

This link is to business guides, and guides for different aspects of forming a business. They are not definite cheap as books go, but they are reasonably detailed. ( but then dutiful information is worth a lot ) I hold used their guides in former times and liked them. Good luck near your craft businness. You might be better off to work the flea market and craft fairs for awhile( this will see you work out some of the kinks and production processes). When you set up a website be sure and own it set up to take credit cards. I suggest this as I hold been to some sights that want checks and money information. If it was me, I would not adopt anything but online credit cards. Less hassles( no running to the bank and waiting for checks and money advice to clear, there is a big problem beside money order fraud also ) and no ripoffs. Good Luck near your career and your contemporary enterprise.

Big financial problem?
Question:
We had our monthly appointment at work today (I am a hairdresser), and my boss announced that for the next six weeks our company (the unbroken international franchise) will be involved with Habitat for Humanity (specifically for Katrina victims). We are to put a jar on our station (actually a hurricain glass), and wear Mardi Gras bead and encourage our clients to donate money for this charity. 1/3 of my income is my tips, and I am supporting a home of 5. My big concern is that clients are going to donate to this charity INSTEAD of tipping, especially since this glass is going to be looking seriously like a tip jar to the clients (we don't own tip jars normally). Our budget is floating on a tightrope the size of dental floss as it is. Since it is a big nationwide, franchise wide open thing, I don't devise I will be able to do anything by chitchat to the boss or higher ups in the order of it. I am freaking out! What can I do to prevent this from hampering my cleverness to pay my BILLS? Help!
Answers:
I agree beside silentgams. I think its great that the company desires to help ancestors but why cant you put a little message on the jar stating what that out of the ordinary jar is for and then your own subsequent to it... i know its hard right immediately and we are all near you. Explain to your boss your situation, sometimes people that dont enjoy money problems dont realise some of us do. good luck!
Make your assessment known and ask to not share. If that doesn't work, then put your own tip jar on the counter subsequent to it.
Tell your clients the truth. Tell them about the donation jar and how the corporate 'know it alls' enjoy as much as mandated that you forego your tips for others which is as much as proverb 'piss on your family, the Katrina victims are more important'. That should provide your clients pause for thought.
Let respectively customer know that if they have any money to donate, above your gratuity, the Katrina victims would appreciate it.
Personally I would tip you indistinguishable. I might throw a buck in the jar depending on my situation at the time. I'm sure most would do like.

How can I get hold of myself better organized?

You see specifically the problem, you know that she will take fastidiousness of it and make it run away, so you think why bother putting it away... Well what I do is I own A-Z file folder and I expand the bills and then as I write the check for them, I put them surrounded by the file folder and once every 3 months I put it into a actual folder... It works for me...
Good Luck!!
if u want to get yourself organized i suggest u return with a planner or get rid of stuff u dont necessitate
Well you should get rid of the "junk" and next get similar to drowers or like organizer trays and lable them as you close to. For ex. Bills, File, and Records. This is my example of showing you how easy that it can be if you cart the time to do it
Going rate for website design?
Question:
Does anyone know what the going rate for a website is?
I have be asked to quote two people for websites, but i am unsure as to what to charge them.
Both of them want a HTML website near original artwork.
Also what would be an legitimate hourly rate for updates to these websites?
cheers
Answers:
In all, range from lb250 upwards. My friend charges about lb400 for the lot.
Acceptable rate i deem would be lb15-lb20 per hour.
Charge by the hour. I used to build websites for people and for businesses. look out The design process is dynamic at best. What I mean is the customer will bring new thinking after you have already put contained by time on something they want to change. Make up a contract. I don't attention to detail if it's you priest at church. Get them to sign an agreement that any changes after the design starts will cost extra.
Charge what your time is worth. People charge anywhere from 30 to 150 an hour
I imagine it all depends what experience you own in net design so far. If you have an online portfolio next to all your previous designs, and potential clients resembling them, you would command a higher rate of repay.
That depends on a great many things...
Sheer size of the size. (How lots pages, graphics...)
Amount of time it's going to help yourself to to put it together.
How much flash programming and other speacial features are to be used...
Web sites can cost as little a few hundred bucks to thousands and thousands of dollars.
The worst part is you don't other get what you pay packet for.
I would try to estimate how long you think the site you hold been asked to produce will purloin you and multiply that by an hourly rate of no less than $25/hr. or more if you surmise you can get it for the initial price.
Then quote that same hourly rate for updates/changes.
that would depend on how much you appeal your time per hour.
seen relations charging as little as lb30 to do a 9 page website in html, but anyone can do that..
the unadulterated test is making sure it's to W3C HTML standards and can be read by adjectives browsers and has a verbs CSS plus it's SEO all contained by all a simple 3 page site would be around lb300 + done right.
afterwards you would need to submit to the furrow engines like G00GLE yahoo and msn + pattern directories like http://marbellia.com and if it's a business afterwards a listing on something approaching http://www.tradersreview.co.uk
then you'll be a virtuous web designer when your customers right to be heard hey that site you made has get me loads of business. if they dont get much responce, likelihood are they'll not get you posterior to do the updates again.
do a course and design your own
Make sure you get adjectives the specifications before you start. Ensure at hand are penalty clauses if near are major change requested. Insist on 'milestone' payments rather than 'on completion'. To be a foil for out state your expected time to milestones and completion and penalties for lateness.
The more businesslike you approach this the more respect you will obtain. I'm sure you can design great websites... be a great business person too.
Best of luck to you.
How do i find out information give or take a few goverment grant and where on earth to apply for them?
Question:
Answers:
You stand a greater chance of getting a government-guaranteed loan through the Small Business Administration http://www.sba.gov/financing than a system grant. Read the SBA Financing page to cram about criteria needed for borrowing
It is rock-hard to find grants to start a business. Unlike the myths that some see, federal government and even private foundations scarcely give forfeit money for starting a for-profit business. And yes, grants scrounging PAPERWORK - lots and lots of it, that is why a cottage industry of give in writers was born.
Nonetheless, you can dance to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal affairs of state to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any admit that would support a for-profit venture.
Even SBA does NOT dispense out grants. From the SBA website http://www.sba.gov/mostrequesteditems/co...
"The U.S. Small Business Administration does not present grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does contribute a wide mixed bag of loan programs. (See http://www.sba.gov/financing for more information) While SBA does offer some allow programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organization that provide small business management, controlled, or financial assistance. These grants commonly support non-profit organizations, intermediary lend institutions, and state and local governments."
Here is a index of federal grants for small businesses. See if in that is any available for individuals for starting a business -- THERE'S NONE.
http://12.46.245.173/pls/portal30/catalo...
Most of the federal grants are given to specific target groups next to specific requirements (e.g. minority business owners involved in transportation related contracts emanate from DOT - Grant#20.905 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Short Term Lending Program
Grants are also often given to non profit groups or organization involved in training or other similar events (grant 59.043 Women's Business Ownership Assistance that are given to those who will create women's business center that will train women entrepreneurs

For private grant, you may want to check the Foundation Center's Foundation Grants for Individuals Online http://gtionline.fdncenter.org . It's a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) but their vent blurb only say that the database is ideal for "students, artists, erudite researchers, libraries and financial aid offices." Entrepreneurs are apparently not one of them, so I bring it they also don't have listings of private foundations who distribute grants to would-be entrepreneurs.
It depends on what type of elected representatives grants you are looking for. And by the approach its not only the administration that has admit programs.
Since government forfeit programs are financed by the taxpayer money the information about management grants have to be made freely accessible to the public. That's why the government have their very own representative website where they provide information give or take a few their grant programs. Just do a turn upside down and you should find their site easily.
They also provide information roughly speaking their grant programs surrounded by printed form so you can find their printed literature at the library.

How much money do you reward to put something on ebay??
Question:
not to purchase something. like read out i want to put a scooter up, how much does ebay charge me??
Answers:
Go here for all that info:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.htm...
It matter how much you try to advertise it. It can be anywhere for 40 cents to close to $25
For a scooter i would say $1
It depends on how much you want for the item and how much money it sell for...they charge a percentage of the final sale price and different listings cost different amounts...if I put a couple of jeans on and start them at .99 then they will charge say-so .20 for the listing within the first place and then however much they put up for sale for, Ebay will charge a % of that...
. Check out this ebay site @ http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.htm... ;
For something big, like $200 the 'fee' is $3. It's a minor entry. I've bought a dozen things on ebay. But a scooter is gonna cost Somebody $100 to deliver ! .
Depending on the starting price and any extra's you want. If you start it as .99 cents or less it (which i doute you will) it will cost .20 cents I reckon. I know it steadily increases too. So probably about .50-90 cents for that. So atleast $1 for everything...but later if it sells you will own a final value payment...and if the person pays by paypal in attendance is a feee for that too.
What do you reflect on in the order of Amway?
Question:
Answers:
Amway is one of the earliest "networking" business ventures. The theory (similar to insurance sales) is to get someone to blend the program and then move about out a sell to adjectives their friends. But unlike insurance sales, these clean customers will join the program and supply to their friends, and so on.Amway's goal is to trade their product and there is nil wrong or illegal in the order of that.
Pyramid scams bring off from this concept. The difference (besides man illegal) is that they are really not selling a product, rather they are getting relations to pay a tax to join the program beside the promise that when they hire others (who in turn hire others) that they will spawn money off the hard work of people joining up after they hold (by getting a commission on the new member's sales). Just remember, "if it sounds too right to be true, it probably is".
Hope this was informative.

They still exist? I don't think they own actual customers, just suckers brought into their MLM plan.
I recommend: ACN | one world. one nightmare.
You can check it out here: http://itcanhappenforyou.acnrep.com...
There was a time when Amway be a good opportunity but that time have long since past.
Back surrounded by the 60s and 70s Amway had some great household products from drain cleaners to furniture wax, and they be better than the other commercial products. They would do personal demonstrations in someones home ( including yours ) to prove their point. And prove it they did. At that time it be a great money making opportunity and many men and women get rich from it. Today the only money to be made beside Amway is to sell the products door to door.
I've used some of their products and they are OK but priced high than similar products on the market. It's easier to merely go to the store an purchase what you obligation, when you need it, to some extent than go through the Amway order process.
I've see some people try and bring in a living by selling Amway products and they usually fail. Finding a steady stream of repeat customers seem to be a problem, that's why dealers are driven to bring in tentative sales member.
I think it's a nearly impossible business plan for most those, but you may be the exception.
I really dislike Amway and other similar business models. Most, if not adjectives, of your future nouns is based on recruit other people, who surrounded by turn recruit others. The focus of any fitting business should be providing a good product or service for a adequate price.
For the last few decades, Amway have seen most of its growth overseas.
I don't recommend any MLM. All products/services are over-priced, surrounded by order to wages the upline their commissions. And, most practially force you to pay overly-inflated prices for workshops and materials. To some extent, they're adjectives scams.
Ebay Question?
Question:
Hi! I sold an item on ebay on the 16th and today is the 21st. I sent out the invoice on the day the auction completed, and I haven't heard anything....so I am not sure how to proceed. Thanks!!
Answers:
Contact the wholesaler. If they don't respond, eBay has a process for this.
Hi, it is other frustrating when a buyer waits several days to contact you, but not atypical at all! If you step to "My Ebay" and sign in, you can convey a payment reminder through ebay. That is usually plenty to get them to write. Good luck! (Also, check your spam filter and craft sure it hasn't intercepted an email from them!)
File a dispute on ebay. Also, I hope you had some transmittal instructions in your fact list or else the human being will probably tell you that they will pay cheque whenever because you didnt specify a time frame. I have experinced a few non paying bidders surrounded by the past. I contacted them, and file a dispute and they never got rear legs to me. So if this is your case consequently get your final helpfulness fee support from eBay by filing a claim on eBay. Then simply let it move about because if you leave a gloomy the person will probably exit you a negative it that wont be any polite. So watch your rear legs. Some people freshly make accounts and bid on stuff they dont plan on purchasing...they dont watchfulness about the picture they have so getting a cynical wont effect them...but if you get one im sure it will effect you greatly.
You can budge to the auction page and send a Reminder to the buyer. In the comment, first, thank and congratulate them for prizewinning the auction item. State the payment methods available (Paypal, check, etc) and notify them (nicely) that they enjoy 48 hours to contact you and arrange payment.
Remind them that conquering the auction is a legally binding contract and "it is our policy to notify eBay to bear action on adjectives buyers who back out of a public sale without inflict."
Then, if you haven't heard from them inthe 48 hours, notify eBay of a nonperforming buyer. If you enjoy other people who bid, you can approach them, inform them that the first buyer did not make, and ask if they would still like to purchase the item for their second bid?
Good luck.
I tend to agree with Arkmom. Send a reminder. If they own aol as their ISP it is more than possible that it got caught contained by the ridiculous AOL filter.
I wouldn't be filing a dispute after just five days. Send a reminder first, like re-sending the Invoice. If you don't hear from them contained by a few days inquire of them via the Ebay "contact member" function, that will usually bypass spam filters.
If overlooked after 8-9 days you may wish later to go to the Dispute Console.
BTW, I'm surprised here are so many question here about ebay. On the ebay site [COMMUNITY/ SELLERS CENTRAL] in that are ebay sellers galore who will assist anyone asking a sound out.
