Any large collection of family will most likely provide a prepared supply of cans for you. If you live surrounded by a college town, you may want to check with the Fraternities/Sororities. They usually enjoy a ready supply of can, both soda and beer, which you will be able to deal in for scrap.
Depending on how your city/county does collection, they may or may not pickup from these properties. Many college campus are exempt from local jurisdictions due to their status as State entities (though this doesn't other apply).
Another option would be to check near local schools. Many hold vending machines which could be producing cans. Due to a national movement to phase soda out of school, many are varying over to plastic bottles. But that movement just started picking up momentum.
A third route would be check with the churches, synagogues and small local restaurants. Many of these places hold gatherings that could produce can. You could offer this as a recycle service for them.
Some things to be aware of:
Some jurisdictions may require you to register as a recycle (mainly deposit states) so they can reimburse you. Also, ethnic group use aluminum cans as a fundraiser so you may be competing against that. One style around would be to split the proceeds with the group, to cover your costs of servicing them.
