Small Business Question and Answers

I'm interested surrounded by starting an Event Planning business?

Question:Anybody know a good place to start? I am a certified CMEP, public relations is expensive and kind of futile within this market and I'm stumped.

Answers:
I suggest you read the article "How to Start an Event and Meeting Planning Business" http://www.powerhomebiz.com/vol153/eventplanning.htm . The article is comprehensive and contains information on the flea market segments of this business, how to souk and get clients for an event planning business, and the push button success factor of this business.

Advertising is not the best way to find clients for an event planning business, but rather more as a branding and to grasp your name out nearby. Rather, networking and word of mouth are the most effectual ways of getting clients.

The first step, however, is to determine your market segment. Will you move about after the social market, corporate open market, non profits, regional markets, etc? Given that respectively market segment have different needs, your marketing strategy will swing depending on the market segment that you cater.

If you are focusing on social events catering to individuals, your pitch may be base on the premise that your services can release them from all the tasks required to create a great and worry-free event. By outsourcing the event to you, your customers can own more free time for their family and friends.

When marketing to public or private organization, your main selling point should be greater success for the money and a professional event without error. Groups, especially sizeable ones, do not wish to concordat with problems that arise due to oversight on their cut. If the guarantee of worry-free, error-free events is available at a cost benefit to them, there really appears to be no better choice.

I suggest you check out the following books for detailed information on how to run an event planning business:

- How to Start a Home-Based Event Planning Business
- The Essential Event Planning Kit

how much should a character charge to put within item up for mart on ebay for them?

Question:I have an rationalization with ebay and I hold people who own asked me to put something up for sale on ebay. What percentage commission should I ask for?

Answers:
It will depend on how much shot you will need to do. Clarify next to them who will handle the following functions and how will these be established:

- Take good photos of the item
- Write item description
- Accept allowance (if by Paypal and it's through your account, remember you carry charged for Paypal processing fees). How much payment fees will you charge them?
- Packaging the item
- Going to the post bureau or arranging UPS man to pick up item for delivery
- Who will income for selling fees (listing + gallery fees and other add-on features + final helpfulness fees if the item sells)
- How many relists would they want? And if so, who will occupy the listing fees for adjectives the relists? You may have an item that simply won't trade even if you relists it 5 times - and that means 5 book fees charged to you by ebay

If you will be doing all of the above, you can charge as anywhere from 5-30% of the amount of item's selling price.

I suggest you study the tax structure of services such as ebay drop off stores. One example is iSoldIt.com, and their commission is primarily 30% of the amount the item's selling price http://www.i-soldit.com/fees.asp . Plus, they will deduct the selling fees incurred as okay as payment processing fees.

One piece to stress to them is that selling on ebay is not as cheap as they might think it to be -- and that NOT EVERYTHING sell.

Make sure you have a contract and that they grasp the process involved in selling on ebay and why are you charging these much fees.

Other Answers:
5 percent.

Other Answers:
ebay
Try eBay, or maybe taking them to a jeweler.
shift to a jewellery store
dont be greedy! these diamonds may hold ment a lot to someone, dont only just sell them. Keep them til you die and make available them someone else. It is not your call!
Send them to me, I will appraise them and get rid of them for you for a small percentage.
take it to a jewler...
Put them for bidding or trade them to a store.
You're Joking right?
Hey everyone says ebay, but perchance a jewlers store!

Hope I helped ya!
EBay be a good answer, conceivably the best. I was thinking you should try selling to different jewelers and travel with the one who give you the best offer.
Hmm.. I'll administer you $50.00 for the lot. Haha. Good luck
I would suggest finding a diamond importer/jewellery maker or someone close to that, they are usually found at a larger size firm, not necessarily a typical jewellery store that you would find within a mall, unless it's People's Jewellers or Birks, someone similar to that.
Take them to an appraiser. Make sure they are impartial and are not going to be the one's buying the diamonds obviously, otherwise they will low ball you. Best bet is to place an commercial in the quality newspaper or ebay for selling it though. You'll get the most if you do a private Dutch auction rather than selling to a jewler or something.
be sure to bring back several expert opinions so you don't receive ripped. don't let them hold on to them to appraise them so they don't swap.

can i call/appoint myself CEO of a small company however small my company is?

Question:we're only 4 contained by our org.

Answers:
I own a small business and had to want on what title to give myself for conducting business. I chose CEO, my customers do not hold to know that for me that means "Chief everything officer".

Other Answers:
Yep you can extraordinarily well do so , if the other 3 are your organization and not the shareholder , if they are the shareholder you need in that approval.

First, you hold to incorporate. That's easy to do. Then you will own to name the Board of Directors. You can sit on the board, but the majority rules. The short answer is, you can appointment yourself "the 400 pound gorrilla" if you want. Although I don't necessarily recommend that.

If you are serious about your business (and since you enjoy 3 employees, I assume you are) you definetly want to register your company beside the secretary of state, if you have not allready done so. When you register, you will entail to give the SoS a address list of all of the Directors of the Corporation/LLC/LP, and some states want a register of all stockholders/shareholders.

I recommend documenting the CEO appointment contained by the minutes of a board of director's meeting. I don't want to seize in much more detail for concern of practicing law minus a license.
